Just wanted to get others take on this tweet.

"I'm my opinion I believe @ochocinco & @terrellowens can still play the game at a high level and they'd both fit us well..just my opinion"

If that were the case, what about Randy Moss? Seemed like a strange thing to say. It makes me wonder if he's not liking the WR crop in 9er land.

I hear Andre Rison and Matt Jones are still on the free agent wire, too...

Terrell Owens takes great care of his body and is likely still in great shape but he had a chance with the Seahawks and dropped it, literally. If he didn't have those dropsies so badly in the preseason I imagine he likely would have made the team, but sadly those can be drive killers and the Seahawks decided not to keep him.

Chad Johnson blew his chance and does not deserve another. He had the perfect situation down in Miami, he was going to be the #1 on their roster and threw it away.

I feel like T.O. can probably still play (or at least could) but teams have stayed away from him because of his big mouth and cancerous personality.

Both T.O. and Chad Johnson are both personally responsible for not being in the NFL. If not for their personal problems both could actually be getting roster consideration, so I therefore have zero sympathy for them.

Not to debate anyone but I can show you why Owens is done, this is him vs Browner last year in practice [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIq1Td51xn4]Terrell Owens meets Brandon Browner - YouTube[/ame]

I'd take Moss over Owens and Ochostinko any day.

The tweet does seem to indicate WR problems in their house.

I wish Donte Whitner were unemployed like the aforementioned WRs. Thank God he only has 1year left on his contract.

Pretty forthright from a true 49er fan. Why exactly do you wish him to gone?

Don't tell Pete, but it's because he's a huge liability in coverage. I think he was responsible for something like 9 passing TDs in the regular season. He's the weakest link on defense on passing downs IMO.

That said, he's a pretty good weakest link compared to most teams. But I got my hopes up when I saw Antrel Rolle might get cut by the VaGiants because I'd much rather have him playing next to rookie Eric Reid at safety. Too bad it was just a rumour. :(

But instead of picking up either TO or Ochocinco, the 49ers decided to go with Charley Martin.

Why not, Martin has more catches the last two seasons than those 2. :laugh3:

I believe SF plans to wait out the preseason, and fingers crossed a vet FS from their list gets released and sign him to a 1 year deal. Whitner gets burned in pass coverage and so does your rookie Reid. Reid is a SS.

I could see a scenario of Ried taking over as starting SS next year which would be his natural position and SF either getting a starting FS either through draft or FA.

But that doesn't help this season at all.

TO is 40 in December, no way he can give you much.

I agree with the first pert of that but not the 2nd. I thought Reid was the best safety in the draft. He's a little slow to diagnose plays, but he doesn't get "burned" in coverage at all. He has the natural coverage skills; he just needs to react faster. I think that'll come with time because all accounts are that he's a high character, hard working guy.

That said, I do like him better at SS than FS.

I think TO still has a little left in the tank for a team that's desperate. He's not going to be a distraction with his mouth because he needs that paycheck. He's good for probably 35-40 rec and maybe 5 td's if some team is willing to take a shot.
