I'm guessing one of these two teams, if not both, will look to amp up their offense on the 1st. Nashville will probably have to look for a backup goalie as well.
We'll see who is willing to pony up some cash. They both have a pretty hefty cushion on the salary cap. (Nashville $21.5 million - St. Louis $32 million)
I've always been a big fan of J.D.(and Oshie. Who the fuck doesn't love watching T.J.!?) and I hope the Notes pick it up this year.
On the flipside, imo, it would be scary to see Trotz ever get a full cupboard to work with. He's had my respect from day one.

i must say, the central and atlantic continue to be the class of the NHL. (3 straight cups now). even the lower end teams in each are either competitive (ala nash and rags) and the not so good ones (NYI and kinda the blues) are darn close to being good.

you gotta give the northeast division some props, They're the only division to send four teams to the playoffs this year. Just sayin.

Nashville has a lot of cap room, yes, but, c'mon, they practically held a firesale over the past two weeks. I see them ending up closer to the cap basement, not the cap ceiling.

I can see St.Louis spending some cash, though.

i agree, all are competitive teams, yes...but i give the advantage to the atlantic because of their success in the playoffs. and the atlantic has had 4 the past 2 years i'm pretty sure.

Nashville has been spending more and more money since their ownership crisis.

Which is merely an RFA contract. Not like tit is going to break the Nashville bank, nor should he. First he has to demonstrate he actually wants to be a professional hockey player.

"Nashville Predators franchise record for shutouts.
Nashville Predators franchise record for longest shutout streak.
Nashville Predators franchise record for saves and shots faced in a single game"

I don't care how little Nashville has been a franchise. The guy deserves to be starting in the NHL.

St. Louis is a sleeping giant. Johnson, Berglund, Perron, Oshie, and Backes are dying to have a Chicago Blackhawks style coming out party. The only difference is the Blues seem to be built in a more cap-friendly manner.

Untimely injuries have hampered things too
