Cano seems like a take the most money kind of guy, but find it hard to believe Jay-Z's first and biggest client goes to Seattle. That may not sit well with future clients.

Someone is going to have to blink here, and I think it will be the Yankees. They always do.

How great would it be if Jay Z was directly tied to Cano leaving New York?

That is the definition of a sell-out

Seattle must be desperate. If I was a team investing in an old player, Id go after Choo. Asians are very marketable and he is a great player

Heres the rest 23 mil when he is 41:suds:

According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, the Mariners have let Robinson Cano know that they would be willing to give him a 10-year contract worth between $230-240 million.
If that's the case, we're not sure how Cano hasn't signed with them yet. Only Albert Pujols and Alex Rodriguez (twice) have received bigger contracts in the history of the game. Rojas hears that Cano took a private flight from from New York to Seattle on Thursday to meet with the Mariners, so reports pegging them as a serious threat would appear to be accurate. We'll soon see whether this will be enough for the Yankees to increase their limit, which is reportedly in the range of seven years and $175 million.

During the NLCS, announcers were saying that Ryu makes the Dodgers more money than Kershaw due to interest from the Asian/Korean community.

you need the NY media for any "mania" to occur over there on the west coast.

It/they need the NY media.

I myself have never had any use for it at all, other than to bash it for being WAAAAAY too homer-istic.

Agreed.

However, the media only sells it, which is bad. It is only made worse when the public actually buys in, which does happen. Waaay too often.

"Old man river. He keeps on rolling. He keeps on rolling along........."

The Rangers just announced some guys they are giving an invite to spring training to, and, none other than Jose Contreras is on the list.

Contreras is 42 years old and pitched just five innings for the Pirates this year after coming back from Tommy John elbow surgery. He hasn’t been healthy and effective since 2010, but on a minor-league deal … why not?
He did put up some nice numbers in the minors this year, including a 3.00 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 33 innings spent mostly at Triple-A.
