According to ESPN's Ed Werder, free agent DE Jared Allen wants close to $10 million per season.

Allen continues to badly overestimate his worth on the open market. He'll turn 32 years old next month and has shown rapidly declining quickness as a pass-rusher as well liabilities in the run game. The Cowboys and Seahawks are not going to be interested in paying Allen DeMarcus Ware or Julius Peppers kind of coin. He's failed to gain any leverage with those hollow retirement threats.

I would offer Allen about $3M for one year, take it or leave it. Never wanted him unless he came cheap and couldn't care less if he signed somewhere else or not...

I was hoping him and Melton would both play for around 3 million LOL

But overall I'm happy with Meltons contract.

I lost my lust for Allen when he threatened to retire if not paid market value. But after signing Melton 3 million is about the max we could pay anyone else. The rest of the money (Plus Austin) is gonna be needed for draft picks

signing him for the same kind of deal that we got Melton for would work for me. 1 year $3.5 to 5M with a couple of option years would be what i would offer, if he can't live with that bye-bye

I know it sounds cheap, but I wouldn't even go that high with Allen. $5M would require restructures and I just don't think he is worth it to us. Could he have a big year? Sure, but if he did he'd just be holding back one of our younger guys anyway. I see him as a rotation guy at this point. Honestly I thought the $3M I mentioned was a little high, but to be honest I don't view Allen as having much left in the tank so I could be wrong. Melton was smart because if it works out he could be a building block. Allen is a temporary signing for a team that needs to build through the draft. I'd rather play Crawford, Bass and whomever we draft in May...

Doesn't mean we are going to sign him, but after it was reported Allen was signing with the Seahawks, he has left Seattle without a deal and is ''weighing other offers''

Allen has made tons of money. I am surprised he did not sign with seattle to try for a ring. Cowboys could use him as we have lack of talent at de. I also don't see many ends in this draft that stand out

If I'm Allen's agent my advice is sit at home and sign with a contender who loses a DE to injury. He may get what he's been offered for 1/2 the games.

Allen would be a tremendous pickup for us. The signing of Melton was a genius move by Jerry. Those two guys next to each other would destroy opposing qbs

Allen signed a four-year, $32 million dollar deal with the Bears today. $15.5 million is guaranteed.
