The Q
Hoop’s Villain, Reality’s Hero
Common sense ain’t so common.
Now make sure Hanley’s option doesn’t beat.
That’s a lot of wiggle room to replace the Big pitching losses coming
to go to the Yankees for $300 million
Fenway is about the worst place for Martinez game imo.
I expect his SLG to regress. Not to where he was as an Astro. But nowhere near what he did last season. And prolly significantly lower than his Detroit numbers.
His singles to left will go up. (10/12 hits in his career at Fenway are singles.)
he'll be hard pressed to repeat last year's power numbers, but I still think there's a good chance he hits around 30 home runs and slugs over .500. Martinez has the fourth highest ISO among hitters over the last four years on par with the likes of Trout and Ortiz. Fenway isn't a home run park, but that doesn't mean those potential home runs will all turn into singles.
I just feel like tMonster will only taketh away, not giveth, for him. Hits well to left, but not lofty to left. Not like he hasn't made adjustments before though.he'll be hard pressed to repeat last year's power numbers, but I still think there's a good chance he hits around 30 home runs and slugs over .500. If Martinez on the team stops Hanley's option from vesting, they'll be back in the same spot going into the 2019 offseason as they would be without Martinez. Since he'll cost $25 million and Hanley will cost $22 million if he vests.Yeah, 30HR is a lock IMO
This was a must get for them
I do like that it could preclude them from next seasons FA class, unless they wanna get to $300 million
But thats my Yankee fan part of it

Agreed. I don't know if there are any in free agency next year. Might be going with Sam Travis depending on how he does this year.hanley is gone after this year if it doesn't vest.
It means they'll need to find another (cheaper) RHH to platoon wtih moreland next year.

Kimbrel I believe is gone. And I would put money on Pomeranz going as well. Arbitration increases for Betts/Bradley/Betts might negate those gains though.very possible, and probably ideal.
Cause they have plenty of other guys they need to get paid...plus Pom and Kimbrel are FAs after this year.
Yeah especially if he has another season like last year. He'll be looking at Chapman money. Pomeranz might be too rich also.I think they would have to let Kimbrel walk, you cant pay closers what he may demand
Pomeranz will be a very interesting one if he has another great season, he could be looking at some serious cash this offseason
The Dbacks offered both short term and long term deals (allegedly). Reported to be at "similar levels" as the Bosox. You said the Dbacks should have offered another year... They only offered 1 year to him, correct? So 2 years wouldn't have helped... He wanted more years, which he got
Nunez should get some of those abs that Brent’s was gonna get.
JD should never play the of
