Oh i agree he's probably not worth what he'll get especially for us. I do think hes a great player though. At this point there is no need whatsoever for us to sign him.

Oh we need another corner, just not that one. Im hoping we do something in the draft at the position actually.

After taking a closer look, in addition to shutting down Jimmy Graham (how many corners could actually do that???) he

Held vjax to 3 for 34 yards
Held aj green to 4 for 58
D Thomas had 4 for.41 although I dint know if he covered him.

Apparently he also shut down roddy white and julio Jones although Jones had 100 yards so I don't believe he covered him for stretches. There were some wrs that had decent to good games against the pats but I don't know if he was actually cornering them the whole game or even at all.

Not totally trying to belittle Talib or anything but:

Vincent Jackson had 7 games this season where he had 3 or fewer catches and 5 games under 40 yards.

The game against Thomas, Manning only threw for 150 yards because of Moreno's 224 yards rushing and Denver putting on the breaks being up 24-0.

I'm not saying all of the following are on Talib; however, if you give him credit for shutting down the other team's best WR, shouldn't he get credit for the following:

Julio Jones had 6 for 108.

Andre Johnson had 8 for 121.

Mike Wallace had 6 for 105 and a TD.

Josh Gordon had 7 for 151 and a TD. I do remember the 80 yard TD in this game was against Talib and Gordon made him look silly. Talib also had 3 penalties against Gordon.

these are the great performances, the Jimmy Graham shut down does not count IMO.

ehb5....I agree that targeting Byrd would be great, instead of Talib because a more important need is filled.
However I'm not against a high profile CB signing because Amerson or Hall could get hurt.
I'm assuming Shields or Verner could go between 6-8...no more. I believe I read Shields was offered 6.5 a year but rejected it.

But seriously Byrd for 8mil per year with two corners that shut down all the underneath stuff seems worth it.
WE need a S that actually knows what to do when the corners release a WR

Yea I get what you're saying. I was simply looking at numbers and a couple articles. More than one of which said he did a great job against Atlanta so I am assuming most of julios yardage wasn't against him. I didn't watch the game so I could be wrong but that seems logical. Same goes for other games. Maybe he didn't give up a single catch to vjax but I have no way of knowing. All I know is vjax had 3 catches. Etc etc

I agree but I dint want to spend big bucks on it.

You and I are in limited company then. I follow four different Skins sites. And a common running theme is.. no one currently on the redskins roster aside from Williams, Morris, Garcon and Griffin deserves "Elite money". But I have seen people screaming that we need to run out and sign Talib, Byrd, Saffold, Asomouh Tj Ward.. and I know Im forgetting a couple of other big name big ticket items..

I don't think it's a terrible idea but honestly I think we'll be able to find other places to spend the money. Shields and verner make us better but I think a lot of other players could as well.

Also why does the Graham game not count to you? Imo that's just as tough if not tougher than any other match up he had abd he completely took him out of the game. I don't know of many other corners (if any) who could've done that.

Talib is a big, physical corner but he can't cover speed. That's why he did so well against Graham.

I agree up to a point. Talib I don't want for reasons you've stated along with cb in particular I don't think we need to spend a lot on. Ideally I'd like to see us sign multiple quality players at a number of positions with the exception being I'd be ok with signing Byrd assuming it's not a crazy deal. But safety is much more of a mess right now then cb.
