They have no intention of using Murray as the monster work horse like we did. Not even close.
So they paid full price for a back they plan on using half as much?

Honestly, that
sounds like something the Cowboys would do several years ago. And we would be furious about it.

I'm not saying this to minimize the loss of Murray or take a shot at Philly, but the above is one of the main reasons this move was a very poor one for Philly IMO. You have Sproles and Matthews and Polk. Isadding Murray to that mix worth $8M? I just don't see it.

Maybe The plan is to get rid of Mathews or Sproles, but this could really hurt Philly IMO because Murray has to play like a top 5 to 7 back to earn that salary and if he does, that means the other guys are likely a waste of money. If they didn't sign Mathews I would say it's a lot of money, but could be a real good move. As it stands they just threw $4M in cap space out the window with Mathews.

Going into FA I thought Murray would get 4M 5M tops. As offers began to come out I knew I was off and Murray would get more than that. That said I'm fine with not giving him 8M per season to keep him in Dallas.

Hope the plan is to use the draft rather than shower AP with money.

I agree. Any Cowboy fan that wasn't a complete moron understood his value and wanted Murray back at the right price, but to be honest we probably made the right move letting him go at $8M plus per year. We all knew if someone blew our offer out of the water he was going to leave. What bothers me is that our offer to him really was kind of a B.S insulting offer if rumors are correct.

What we do next with both the RB position and with the cap savings will determine whether it was the right move or not. Can we "unrestructure" Tyron!!!

Pierre Thomas or Fred Jackson!!!

I fear this may be Jerry's way to get AP. I hope I'm wrong. Also I believe we already did restructure Tyron

I doubt this will be popular but Trent Richardson is available and I'm sure he will be so cheap he'd be cutable if he doesn't pan out. I'd sign him for the vet min with no guaranteed $$.

Sproles will most likely see a lot of action as a slot WR.

Agree...it won't be popular:suds: T Rich looked old, fat and slow last year. Had him on a fantasy team so I watched him enough to say he sucked...I do think if he loses 15lbs he could be better, but I'd have to see it first...

I'm not going to lie. Seeing "Demarco Murray RB Eagles" is going to sting for a while...

DeMarco Murray - RB - Eagles
Asked about the Eagles' 2015 running back distribution on Thursday, coach Chip Kelly said the plan is to "spread it around."

This plan may have appealed to DeMarco Murray because it could prolong his career. The Eagles have Murray and Ryan Mathews capable of effectively handling early-down work, and Darren Sproles as a mismatch creator on passing downs. In the Eagles' high-volume, fast-tempo offense, Murray should still have a chance to exceed 300 touches. He just won't be nearing 500 again. Mathews could carve out an 8-12 touch-per-game role as the Eagles' No. 2 runner.

I'd also like To have the doctors look at Bradshaw. Guy still can play, with power and quickness, but another guy that always gets hurt.

A lot of defensive players out there still too. Do we spend "Murray's" money on an edge rusher or Fairley? Would like to look at Culliver and a few of the safeties too. Lot of guys that can help us still out there and their prices are dropping every day.

And I hope in the two games we play against him our guys are going for the strip. Let him have another 4 yards, but strip that damn ball like we know you can easily do :)

One option. Draft a RB and wait for AP to hold out. Vikings front office is just dumb enough to hold onto to AP until camp opens and force him to hold out. Our Boys could then draft a RB (say Gurley-love his pass catching and play-making ability), and have an inexpensive RB option heading into season....find a cheap vet option as well until he is ready. Then once the thirsty franchise known as the Vikings waits until there is very little trade value remaining in AP after trying to call his bluff for months, Vikes will either be forced to release him with no compensation (after holding onto him because of fear from their fan-base and backlash I'm sure), or try and get what they can for him by that time. Why hold onto to player that doesn't want to play for you is beyond me, but then again they are the Vikings. If AP really wants to play for Dallas they can still acquire him after his release without even having to give up anything. Holding onto a player that holds out and not accommodating his trade request, is probably just another reason why AP will never play for them again.

Looks like the Eagles got a 2 headed, double injury prone RB for 12M per and then they have Sproles and Polk. I think Chip probably trades Polk or Sproles though eventually.

LOL @ Murray for saying it's a great opportunity for him to win a Super Bowl. With a QB tandem of Bradford and Sanchez? He better renew his delusional pill prescription.

As long as the Cowboys upgrade the defense this offseason, I'm not worried about the Eagles. The Eagles have unloaded their starting QB, RB, WR, and soon to be two starting OL. When has that ever worked in the NFL? Chip is trying to be an innovator lol. The team I think will be a bigger challenge next season is the Giants

I wish we could pry Forte out of Chicago and then rework his deal. Not sure what compensation I'd be happy with without putting a lot more thought into it, but this is his last year on current contract and he's around $7M due. If we could get him without spending a ton of picks, rework his deal into a 3 year contract that has a better number this year I would LOVE that.

I like a strong NFL East and recent moves have weakened both Philly and Dallas but time will tell. I can't understand why the Eagles gutted their offense (Yeah, Kelly has a divine plan with double ACL guy Bradford) and why on the Dallas side, Jones would not spring for the extra millions for Murray. Of course, I'm glad the Eagles acquired Murray. It takes the sting out of Kelly's moves.

I agree with the Giants. Signing Vereen was a good move. As he showed in the Super Bowl he is tough to cover and moves the chains.
