to tear up RW's rookie contract after this season if you guys have a good playoff run this year?

His cap hit is roughly $815k for '14, and $953k in '15 then UFA.

I think I would....probably can lock him up with a 5 yr/$40 mil deal with about half of that guaranteed...if you wait until '15, and this kid has another growth year, the cost might double that.

Hawk fans, your thoughts?

Aren't the 3 year rookie contracts guaranteed? I was under the impression you can't just tear up a 1st contract like that so the whole idea is moot.

In that case it is a moot point...thanks for that detail...did not realize that.

I think they can sign him early as PIT did Antonio Brown, but the new deal wouldn't take effect until the rookie contract expires.
