He said he can't make decisions based on the millions of "experts" known as the media and fans. That's being responsible. I give reporters here props, they're asking great questions. But Shero's holding his own and saying there's plenty people on the outside don't see.

I understand the sentiment, but I can't think of logical reason for keeping Dan other than continuity and he's a good guy.

Sounds like Shero talked to the players quite a bit about it too...owners wanted to keep him, players did. Doesn't mean that's why he made the decision, but it was part of it. I thought it was revealing that Shero asked him "why didn't you use those changes in game 2 (instead of 3)?" Seems like he had no answers in regards to what happened in game 2.

Of course, maybe some perspective is needed. The Oilers gave Krueger a three year contract (previously no head coaching experience in the NHL) and gassed him after 48 games. They gave Eakins a four year contract a couple of days ago (again, no prior head coaching experience in the NHL).

Chin up, Pens fans :)

Ugh, not making me feel any better.

You mean Dan had no answers?

Also Shero just basically said MAF is staying. Can't simply go out and replace 40 wins a year.

On that team a traffic cone would get 30 wins.

That's what I get for being at lunch. Beaten by a dash.

When you start listenting to the whims of fans, you'll soon find yourself sitting with them.

But in this case, the (majority of) fans are right. The coach has no answers, and the goalie has no backbone.

Maybe more... the natural shape of the cone might distribute rebounds to the corners better than Fleury. Let's see...

Rebound control - Edge to the cone
Positioning - Wash
Glove hand - Fleury, cone has no opposable thumbs to use it
Stick handling - cone
Blocker - Fleury, cone has no arms to wear it
Pucks coming off end boards - cone
Reaction time - even

This gives a slight edge to the cone overall.

Not to steal eloco's thunder, but this is too good to pass up...

If Bylsma doesn't win another Cup in his extended tenure on the team, he should be living in a box in front of CEC for the rest of his life because even a blind squirrel finds a nut and any idiot could win a Cup with this talent.

You mean Dan had no answers?

Yeah, he literally said that. "I asked Dan, I asked the players...we still don't know what went wrong in Game 2...we lost that series in Game 2."

Complete paraphrase there.

Pretty damning, IMO.

Not quite as Shero put it. The team thought they played well in game 1 (and they did). Therefore no adjustments really nec. for game 2, but they don't know what happened during game 2, the entire team played like crapped. So Dan adjusted the forecheck for game 3 and lost in double OT, but played good hockey.
