I don't think the demands on a QB are any tougher today than in the 80s. The DBs are better now but so are the receivers and the rules favor a QB more today. But Brady has the numbers and the rings and his D lost it late 2 other times. He's still the best right now right now and he's 38 years old.

The difference is the contact they used to allow. They had the flippin two step rule in the 80's, which was basically if a pass rusher could get there in two steps he could unload on the guy. Taking a shot at the QB was basically part of the game. It wasn't so much that throwing the ball was harder, it's that the price on the QB's was a lot higher for throwing the ball.
