Good news for hockey fans who receive DirecTV, per Fox Sports Detroit’s Tim Bryant:
STATEMENT FROM FOX NETWORKS AND DIRECTV REGARDING THE STATUS OF PROGRAMMING NEGOTIATIONS
October 31, 2011
Fox Networks and DIRECTV have reached an agreement for DIRECTV to continue carrying all Fox Networks (including FX, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, SPEED, FUEL TV, FOX Soccer, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes), Fox’s regional sports networks, Fox Broadcasting (FOX), the FOX local stations, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming.
you love inferior PQ, and inferior channel/programming selection ?
Just cut the chord people. There isn't anything on TV that you can't get online. I'm coming up on one year since I cancelled DirecTV, had been with them for 11 years. They were throwing EVERYTHING at me to get me to stay, but I had made up my mind. With my little one on the way I knew I wouldn't get to watch much TV, so we cancelled it. $120 per month saved. Got a good antenna and the picture is actually much better in HD. When it comes times to catch FSSW games I just fire up the computer. I took some of the money saved and got a really good FiOS package and netflix so I still get shows and movies. Have a few sites saved that stream sports packages and my computer has HDMI output so it is linked to my TV.
All said and done I save about $70 a month by cutting the chord and I actually have more programming now. Sucks not having a DVR, but there are ways around that if you want. I spend a lot more time working on my car, playing with my kid and the wife now as well.
streaming quality sucks ass if you have a decent HDTV

not everybody can cut the cord because not everybody has viable broadband internet options for streaming video
True. But for everyone else, there are other options. I thought it would be impossible, but I'm loving the savings every month. I mean, I'm saving almost $1100 a year just from TV, and haven't missed any of the shows I used to watch.
