In the past NFL Sunday Ticket was automatically subscribed unless I cancelled. This year for some reason that did not happen so in week 2 when I went to turn on the games it asked me if I wanted to order. Not giving it a second thought I went ahead and did so. Watched the games and did not give it a second thought. Well for two weeks after that I would run out to Jersey Mikes to get sandwiches before the game and be back just in time for kick off. For those not in the NE area..Jersey Mikes are great subsitutes for hoagies. My 17 year old son would have the game tuned in when I got home. No big deal right? Well apparently not. It appears we were ordering Sunday Ticket every week. My son was just clicking through the order every week not really paying attention…… 17 year old teenage boy who does not pay bills…..so the thought never occur to him to question….oh well.

This is how I caught it. I pay my bill every month on the 1st and after I paid my bill I still had a balance of more than $150. When I clicked on the details it said I was charged a $49.99 daily rate for NFL Sunday Ticket. So I called them and was told that is what the order was and I asked them what idiot pays $49.99 a week to watch football when Sunday Ticket is $299 total…… (apparently I am the idiot.)

Told the rep I am not paying that and I needed them to correct my bill. Set the order for NFL Sunday Ticket and remove those ridiculous daily charges. She said she can’t do that.

Comcast is coming out Tuesday to install Cable….. It will be a cold fucking day in hell before I pay DirecTV that bullshit charge.

Let me make sure I understand this:

You’ve had NFL Sunday ticket for at least a few years.

In all that time, you’ve never “ordered” games on Sunday. It’s always just come on.

On at least one of the weeks, the TV prompted you and asked you if you wanted to “order it”. You’ve NEVER done that in the past but “not thinking twice” you hit the order button and forgot about it.

You claim that your 17 year old son (whom I assume has watched these games with you for years) “ordered” the games each week while you were away and 1) he didn’t think twice about doing it multiple times and 2) never mentioned it to you while you were watching the games together.

And you claim ALL these errors by you and your nearly adult son are you “getting screwed”.

Do I have that right?

Ok... somebody has to tell you so I will: You and this entire scenario where you fail to take responsibility for your own actions and mistakes are what’s wrong with this country.

Suck it up buttercup... mistakes generally cost money. Both you and your nearly adult son made them. Take this opportunity to teach your son this relatively inexpensive lesson in the hopes that he doesn’t grow up with the attitude you are instilling in him.

That was very direct and to the point, Ironside. I, too, find it odd that he went with that load of shit story for the reason he's leaving cable companies. I'm not buying it. However, pretending to be a dipshit is good work.

I give it a B-

I was being kind. I agree... I’m not buying that BS story. Even if you believe it though... it was his dumb ass fault.

Either you have a comprehension problem or you really are a fucking troll.

Let me see if I can break this down for you.

1. This is my second stint with DirecTV. In the past NFL Sunday Ticket was always an automatic subsciption and all the currenty DirecTV ads tell you when you sign up and get it free you have to cancel before week 2 of the current season.

2. I recently went back to DirecTV because I was given NFL Sunday Ticket for free. So this was my first time in three years of actually figuring to pay for it. Last year I was going to cancel DirecTV and they gave me Sunday Ticket again for free. I did not realize I had to explain every single detail to you.

3. Week 1 is normally free so I did not even know I did not have a subscription until week 2. The option came and said order NFL Sunday Ticket and that is what I did. It did not say daily pass or anything like that. So I assumed that I was ordering NFL Sunday ticket.

4. Yes, my son went ahead and clicked through the ordering. When I realized what happened I actually asked him why did click through it and not call and ask me first. His response to me was he figured I wanted to order it anyway and he just did. In his mind he did not know that DirecTV was not a $49.99 each week all he knew was that every week we got the games and he assumed that is what I did each week. Then I realized that this was partly my fault I mean who really discusses the cable bill with their kids. I try to teach responsibility and have even taught him how to budget but definitely failed in telling him to verify all costs and charges are legit.

Here is my problem with DirecTV on this. It does not state that I am paying a daily rate. The screen clearly asks if you want to order NFL Sunday Ticket. So when I saw the charges on my account I figured it may have just been a system glitch that they could fix. Turns out that is not the case. In all the years NFL Sunday Ticket has been around I have never......ever.... once seen a daily charge for Sunday Ticket. I have had DirecTV a good portion of my life since I have not lived in Philly since my military days (1986-1996) until they started jacking up the price each year and decided that it was just too much. When AT&T bought DirecTV and I had Uverse at the time they figured they would hit their current customers first and they offered me a really good deal.

So fuck off about your this is what is wrong with America bullshit. If I would have screwed up and ordered knowing it was a daily rate I would have paid it because it was my screw up. In this case DirecTV or AT&T for this matter was misleading in the pricing and did not clearly spell out what was being ordered. I have ordered DirecTV before from my receiver and this has never happened.

Yep putting up with the tax cuts & seeing a bigger paycheck over the last year or so has just been a nightmare.

Must be nice being rich. I am middle class. I have not seen a tax cut or a bigger paycheck. I did get a small bonus though.

So you whined/threatened to leave to get direct tv for free. Says a lot.

I’ve had direct tv for over 10 years. I’ve never had any problems like you described. I know what nfl Sunday ticket cost and I know what I get for it. I just pay it. I don’t try and “scam” them with fake ass threats to leave unless they give it to me for free.

You and your son clicked on the screen to order it... several weeks in a row. Nobody “scammed” you. Stop whining like a bitch. Admit you made a mistake and own it. If not for yourself then for your son.

I got Sunday Ticket free, gratis and for nothing last year.

My cable company was rolling out some new equipment and packages and inadvertently gave new customers Sunday Ticket free.

My daughter was one of them.

I phoned them up and asked why was I, a long time customer being gouged $200 for Sunday Ticket when they were giving it up free to others?

Next cable bill with the credit, they essentially paid me to watch for a couple of months....

No.....what I told them is that I thought I was ordering NFL Sunday ticket. That the order I thought I was processing said nothing about a daily charge. I then asked them to change it and process the proper ordering of NFL Sunday Ticket and they said no. This is what you are failing to grasp. I wanted to order NFL Sunday Ticket asked them to process that order and they refused. Considering that I have been with them for almost 3 years (DirectTV) and had been a Uverse customer for almost 5 years so we are talking about 8 consecutive years of service from AT&T Made every single payment for one of their higher packages they would want to employ some good customer service.

Yes I get that the mistake was mine and my son's and that if he would have thought to ask I would called them and asked them what was going on. However, the ordering process was misleading as well. I don't want a fucking thing free. I want to pay them the fees for season for NFL Sunday Ticket. I don't want it for free and never asked them to give it to me for free. I want them to make the change to my bill and remove the charges for he daily fee. I will still be paying for the weeks I watched because I planned on getting the entire package.

I had a long discussion with my son after this and printed out a bill to show him how to make sure you are charged only for what you are subscribed to. I also told him that he should never just order something until you know what you are getting. I told him that he made a bad assumption on think I did this every week. The look in his eyes showed me I hit home when I told him what the NFL sunday package actuall cost. I told him that doing it the daily rate way (which is apparantly new) is $850 a year when the actual NFL Sunday Ticket package is $299. I think that is the cost. Normally it was broken down in monthly payments of around $50 on my bill during the season. I told him always make sure you verify costs before agreeing to buy something.

We're lucky I suppose...parts of my little town has fiber and some do not...we just moved from Comcast 75 mps to I have ATT Fiber 1000...of course only ethernet gets anything close to 1000, but the majority of the wifi devices are realizing about 200 mps down....100% streaming now.

I dumped DTV and NFL Sunday tkt like 4-5 years ago now. After having DTV & the Tkt for nearly a decade I just wasn't using it like I once was...$260+ to get the 6 or 7 Steeler games not on local TV...it wasn't worth it.

When they're ready to do out of market games on a game PPV basis like you can with NBA, I will revisit the NFL Tkt...aside from that...I'm okay with the games I get.

I honestly never heard of them until a friend of mine mentioned them. In the NE or at least in philly anyway there are a lot of local shops that make fantastic hoagies. Not so much in Houston, Texas....LOL

They have been popping up a lot in the past 5 years. Nice food. Texas has 100 of their restaurants.
