Given the success of last year's defense, all the talk was whether Diaco would get a head coaching gig. Despite that succeess, it seemed he didn't get very many offers and I think he is way more green as a DC than people apprecaite. Sure enough, I think he's a charismatic and young and energetic coach that the players shine to, which is good for recruiting, but as an X's and O's guy, he's not that special. I think he's slow to adjust, runs a very basic scheme (ask Alabama, who all claimed we ran a vanilla defense).

We've both agreed on this issue a couple times now.

Diaco isn't the genius that many had thought. His lack of adjustments is a big worry as well.

He is a good DC but I agree his adjustments are bad.

Diaco will probably still land a coaching gig this offseason. The dude is an elite recruiter. That alone has gotten guys hired elsewhere.

Low I agree, but he needs to finish strong. With the talent on D there is no reason to have a bad D this year.

Cannot wrap my head around why he would not shadow Gardner. Just can't...I thought J.Smith would have been perfect for that.

Except after Navy in 2010, they weren't ready for the veer. I recall Kelly keeping him away from the microphone the rest of the season after that debacle of an interview.

Diaco is overrated. If he was gone tomorrow I would be fine with it. Terribly vanilla and predictable.

Just think how pedestrian the D would be with out those 2 soon to be NFL monsters on the line. Secondary routinely gets torched (I think that's lack of talent as well as blown coverages).
