Booker has found his new home. After missing out on Frank Gore yesterday.. The Raiders have signed Devontae Booker.

Booker was pretty good here when he was given an opportunity, but we were always looking for someone better. I think he could be a nice second string RB for someone, just hope that isn’t the Raiders.

Not a great offseason if you're rooting for Sacramento area guys on the Broncos. Scangarello from Roseville, CA; gone. Colby Wadman out of UC-Davis; gone. Devontae Booker from Sacramento, played for American River Junior College; gone.

If Todd Davis (Sacramento St.) gets cut, I might have to cry.

Since he’s going to the Raiders, shouldn’t we name this the “Devontae Booker Depreciation Thread”?

I'm wondering if we're going to have a Royce Freeman thread like this after 2021?

Personally I hope he figures it out. I liked the Rooky version of him. before he got hurt.

I have definitely not given up on Freeman. I think he can play in the NFL as a depth running back for a while. It isn’t like he has been bad. My only concern would be that he is now our number three running back and he is not a special-teams player. That will probably hurt him in the long run unless he catches a break here and gets another opportunity to get plenty of touches.
He just doesn’t really have a roll unless one of the top two go down which could happen. You really need three good running backs. The only problem is usually you want your third guy to fill a special teams type of role (Like Booker and Lance Ball) and be prepared when called upon at running back.

I just really haven't seen much of anything from him. To me he's the poster boy for Just A Guy. Sure, he'd do better if our O was better but we have two guys in Lindsey and Gordon that actually make the Offense better when they are on the field. And as you said that puts him in Special Teams territory...without being special.

Say it's the off season after 2021 and his contract expires. Who do you want? A mid to late round rookie RB with potential or Freeman on a vet deal? I'd go with a draft pick. Maybe Gordon doesn't last more than a couple of years and Freeman makes it into camp on a low dollar deal with no guarantees. He probably still gets beat out by a draft pick and an UDFA.

I'm not saying Freeman is a bad back. He may look better in a limited role this year if our interior O-Line improves as I think it should. But that's just it, he's JAG at this point. The Offense takes a noticeable step back when he's in to replace a playmaker. Lindsey is a playmaker. Gordon is a playmaker. On film they improve the Offense when they go in. Unless Freeman does better from this point on he's another rent-a-back. Draft, rinse, repeat.

Last year he played at 238 and he sucked I hope he comes in at 218 and has the eye of the tiger. He played at 228 his rookie season. His profile page said he pulled the same thing in Oregon and was not the same.

I think it will be interesting what kind of shape guys report in. Not everyone has a gym in their house.

Well, Gordon signed a two year deal with us. Freeman has two years left on his rookie contract. What are the chances that Freeman convinces the coaches in the next two years that he needs to be kept, while playing third string with questionable ST value? Will we even have three RB's active on game day?

Good point. Even if they have weights and are working out do they have anyone pushing them?
