Would any of you guys want Devin Hester since the Bears said that they won't be resigning him?

If we had the resources to carry a guy who has no other purpose but to be a kick and punt returner?? Sure. But realistically we cant afford the $2+ million in cap space its going to take to get him here. Not with all our other needs. Hester isnt a good WR option as the Bears found out. His sole purpose is as a return man, and we simply cant afford the bill for him.

I like Hester, best KR of all time. But, no, he is older, has lost a step, and has never been a very good option at WR.

I like Hester however I believe that the time has come for him to either show that he's able to contribute in another capacity on whichever team that gets him. Being the second best Kick and Punt returner ever (Brian Mitchell) without the additional ability to contribute is no longer a luxury that teams can afford.

Oh I think we could find a way to afford him if we went in that direction. I simply dont think we should go in that direction. As you know, I dont care what we pay these guys, and we can always make the cap room. But a roster spot for a guy who is basically a specialist.... you cant afford to many of those when you are a team trying to rebuild. And sadly we are trying to rebuild. Getting Hester mens depth suffers some where. And we just dont have the kind of horses to not have a couple of mules in the barn for a rainy day.

I agree. They tried Hester at WR, CB, S and he never produced at any position. At this point, he is what he is. A hell of a return man but not a future Redskin. Thankfully.

There are no KR hardly anymore because the ball is out of the endzone 80% of the time so that limits Hester even more. However Sproles can still catch the ball out of the backfield, plus return punts or the limited kickoffs.

Brian Mitchell was 31, and supposedly too old when he left the Redskins...still pisses me off that he went to Philly/NY.
