This Phillies player came in 2nd in the rookie of the year voting in 1957. After that season was over, he got arrested for exposing himself to young girls (I am not joking!!) and plead guilty to a series of charges...sentenced to 3 years probation. Still played baseball until 1963! He died in 2013 and read a story about him.
Frank Thomas? (the Phillies one)

I'll wrap up some loose ends. The Yankees utility player was Gil McDougald and the Detroit Tiger Ty Cobb rival was "Wahoo Sam" Crawford

  • Great power hitter, but was unusually small (5 feet, 9 inches; 170 pounds)
  • Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1951
  • His nickname is a case of alliteration
  • First National League player to hit 500 home runs
  • Youngest player to hit 100 home runs

Played mostly in the 1970's.
Above average hitter for his position.
Also very good defensively.
Team captain, great postseason stats in 3 different seasons.
Played his entire career on one team.
Probably a hall of famer if he had a longer career.

Another hint. He has the same last name as a movie character played by Woody Harrelson
