Ok, here's one:
This guy was the Jim McMahon of baseball players. He played in 17 seasons in the majors as a starter but only had a little over 6,000 plate appearances because he was always injured.
He did have one stretch where he played 120-130 games for 5 straight years and he received MVP votes in all 5 of those years.
He was a good power hitter, with his best homerun totals being 37 and 34 (in 130 games because of injuries).
Hit 282 homers in his career.
Also a great base stealer. One year stole 80 bases and was only caught 11 times. The next year stole 50 while being caught just 6 times.
Lifetime OPS of .841. Played with 6 teams, but most of his good years were in the NL.

To Cedric: you only need one more Bell, I saw where you said Gus Bell in an earlier response. Three down and one to go!

This 282 home run son of a bitch is really pissing me off. I'm usually very good with home run numbers

I remember Eric the "RED" from 1986. He had less than 500 at bats that year. I was think that he could have stolen 100 bases if he had another 100 at bats that year. The tip off came when you said he stole 80 bases in one year. Eric Davis was also a great fielder!

  • MLB wins leader in 1992
  • Pitched a no-hitter in 1997
  • Had a sharp slider in the high 80's
  • One of seven pitchers to win between 200 and 220 games with an ERA+ between 120 and 135
  • Known to be one of the biggest pricks in baseball history (or at least for his time period)

Kevin Brown sounded off to the padres fans and signed with the dodgers the following year. I don't think he was a prick though. Is it Kevin Brown?

  • Tallest position player in MLB history
  • In 2001, his 45 home runs tied Gorman Thomas for a single-season Brewers record
  • First Brewer to have 100 RBIs in three seasons in a row
  • Despite lofty career home run and RBI numbers, he finished with a paltry 16.8 WAR in 5,604 PA
  • As a kid, I loved this player because his name was considered a "bad" or "inappropriate" word to me
