has anyone even looked at KC's defensive record lately ? #19 overall defense....#29 rush defense ?? maybe I'm confused but that doesn't seem impressive in any way. which part of that is it that people are so impressed with ?.. combine that with the number 16 overall offense ....and dont forget, in the majority of this seasons games, they just so happened to get to play that teams worst QB...more often in fact than has ever happened before.

29th rush defense based on what? They are 24th in rushing yd/game at 118.6...misleading are we?

Kansas City Chiefs Football Clubhouse - ESPN

For giggles: OPP Passing yardage is 3rd best in the NFL at 208.3.

I have already done this skit before, basically unless you have an elite running back or elite 1-2 punch, and/or a very mobile QB, you won't be able to run on the D, if you do meet the conditions, you can certainly run- see Buffalo and Philly vs KC. Look at the games outside of Philly and Buffalo ( Both of which have excellent RB's and Philly played Vick vs KC)

They have allowed fewer points per game than any team in the league, they lead the league in sacks, and they have scored six defensive TDs. They have a lot of good players on their defense and they have been very good. Still, they have faced a failry weak schedule and haven't played against an offense nearly as good as Denver's.

I also dont care what your OPP passing yardage is when you are playing most of your opponents 3rd string QB...some of whom had never played an NFL game before they played the Chiefs

... KC has played 1 more game than many teams, a bunch of teams would have trouble stopping Buffalo(Edit: atleast the Running portion, Tuel obviously not so much). Remove Buffalo and put KC back to 8 games played and they are above avg at the 12th rated rush D. This is ridiculous. Obviously I can't remove games, but to use a stat that uses total yardage is equally silly when KC has played 9 games compared to most teams 8.

I think it's ignorant to argue that the KC defense has not been good. Arguing that they have played a weak schedule is a whole other matter.

In a league dominated by the passing game, a pass D is far and away the most important aspect of the defense, if you can defend running plays even competently in todays NFL along with an elite pass D, your D is probably among the best in the NFL. The opposite of this would be... the 2013 Denver defense up this point has defended the run very well but has been horrific against the pass ( for a number of reasons both in and outside of the Defense's control E.G big leads = more throwing- less running)

Campell is the best Qb on the Browns

That's highly debateable. Hoyer was having a pretty good year before he went down.

Keenum this year atleast is the best QB on the Texans and has done a solid job

A second year guy making his first ever start? I like his potential but let's not pretend he's something special at the moment.

Tuel sucks... given.

This is true.

Both Campbell and Keenum were making their first starts of the season, and for Keenum it was his first start ever. That's not exactly a recipe for success. Even Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson lost their first starts. There is no denying the Chiefs have been fortunate with the slate of quarterback's they've faced (both who and when).

and really, just how much credit do you truly give to the KC pass defense when you consider the QB they played in each game ?? not just the team...but the specific QB they played...I've watched most of the KC games this season, most of the turnovers that they have gotten werent even forced turnovers....because those QB's are so terrible...even special teams, who didnt watch the ball bounce off a special teamers chest and right into the arms of a chief player for a TD...count your lucky stars, KC is 9-0-----largely predicated on the luck of the draw...not because they are great in any facet of the game.

Put Henne and Blackmon back in the game and KC is basically Jacksonville with a slightly better defense

I agree, I am just pointing out that these are not typical 3rd stringers a team encounters, although it would be completely asinine of me not to admit that it could have, and probably did, benefit the Chiefs D to an extent.

Actually this very reason is why I'm extremely interested in seeing how KC's defense fairs over their next 3 games. If they manage to shut down Manning twice and Rivers once, there will be no denying that they are an elite defense. If they struggle in those games, though, and the doubts that they've just made their numbers against bad quarterback's will only get louder.

Fair enough. As I said, we'll find out just how good that Chiefs defense is over the next 3 games.

well...its about the strength of the offensive lines as well..you may have noticed that the majority of KC sacks have also come in select few games, with their overall league lead in that category diminishing quickly over the course of the season. I just think its crazy that there are people that describe them as some sort of never-seen-before defensive powerhouse, when in reality they appear to be very average at best.

That's ignorant. They have given up the fewest points per game in the league. They've done it against a weak schedule, but they have very good players on their defense (e.g., Powe, Hali, Johnson, Houston, Flowers, Berry, and Smith)

I watch KC every week.
"I have the NFL tix and two tvs.Watch the Bears on one and my fantasy team on the other.
And as far as I can tell, your offense is built around JC.
You hae no qb or te and your wrs are horrible.
Bowe, your best wr is just average.
Although I do like mccluster."

agree with you about receivers. TE have been banged up all season, and you're dead wrong about Alex Smith. the guy's lost all of 5 games as a pro, so everybody who thinks he sucks doesn't know what they're talking about...

"Your defense is what is keeping you afloat.
"

and special teams...and coaching...

it is what it is, man...

The Chiefs are playing the best mistake free complimentary football in the NFL right now. The offense isn't going to blow away a whole lot of teams but they are not going to turn it over, are going to be good at milking the clock, and are going to play good field position football at this time.

Defense obviously is what it is. Special teams has been pretty impressive and you are right coaching has been outstanding so far.

Right now the Broncos and Chiefs are both to the meat of their schedule so the next month or so will go a long way in deciding the AFC West and possible order of the teams for the playoffs.
