Information coming out of the Broncos is that he absolutely won't play unless he's healthy. I'm assuming that would mean they believe there is no risk of re-injury or making it worse. It's arguably all coach speak anyway. It feels like they hope that Osweiler continues to play well and that makes the decision for them. "Whoever gives the team the best chance to win". We've heard that song and dance a million times.

and at this point and time, regardless of Manning's health or not would be to keep Oswiler as the QB

Would be nice but at this point I want the Broncos at "better strength" and right now that's not with Peyton at the helm.

Will Manning go to any of the games he doesn't play in? Just wondering if he will mentor, if not only for the hope Osweiller keeps the team ready for him if he comes back (I say this because someone might think he had no interest in Osweiller succeeding if Kubiak was thinking of making a decision).

I honestly think Manning staying away for the most part has been best for the team. There is no distraction at practice with a thousand cameras all zoomed in on Manning. IT has allowed the team to truly become Osweiler's. He is leading the meetings, practices, and even was the one who gave the team speech before the game. So again I honestly do believe Manning not being around as much has been good. Plus not sure there is much more that Manning can teach Osweiler that he hasn't already taught him in 3 1/2 years. Osweiler has talked a ton about how much Manning has helped him and taught him how to prepare for games. Now it was time to put all that teaching to use.

Assuming he treated it like a mentor, Manning has been known for preparation and football IQ and if Manning is declared out for the year, he could help a lot when it comes to the little things that wins playoff games when it could go without in the regular season. Now, if Manning will return to being healthy or doesn't embrace the temporary role, it would be a distraction like you said. He could not be active on gameday or worried about his starting spot. I know that Alex Smith helped Kaepernick in 2012 and he's no Manning.
