To Lincoln jail for his 60 days, 35 with good behavior.

Pretty confident that this will be a one time deal for this young man, hopefully this is his last trip ever to Nebraska. They seem to have it out for him.

So he assaults a police officer and then gets done for drunk driving and "they seem to have it out for him"?

Ok then...

He got grabbed from behind and defended himself. On the DUI he took the test, then had the officer decide he didn't like how he took it and arrest him anyways.

Yes, that seems like a department with an axe to grind to me.

How in the fuck is he supposed to know when he is grabbed from behind that it is a police officer?

And if a police officer jumps you damn right they deserve their shit knocked in.

"According to local reports, Lincoln police said Dennard was fighting a man outside a downtown bar when they tried to take him into custody.

Dennard allegedly pushed and punched an officer in the face, and police say it took four officers to take him into custody."

You punch someone in the face when they're behind you?

It's one thing to stick by your teams player; another to defend a blatant idiot who was resisting arrest.

Dig deeper. Find what actually happened (it's not really hidden), then get back to me.

It is very clear from the actual fact pattern that dennard had no knowledge he was defending himself from a police officer.

Why did it take FOUR officers to arrest him then? Were they all undercover?

Because they freaked out when he defended himself like he had every right to, and all other three jumped in at once.

FIFY.

First officer has to identify himself as a cop. It was clear Dennard wasn't listening or just simply didn't give a fuck. When someone is threatening to arrest you, you don't go bat-shit crazy warranting three other cops to have to jump on you.

Has to doesn't mean did. He didn't. He basically jumped Dennard and Dennard defended himself. That is not resisting arrest. That is defending yourself against an unknown assailant, and a police officer abusing his position to get an innocent man into trouble.

First officer was not undercover, he was off duty working as a bouncer and did not identify himself as an off duty police officer until Dennard defended himself when grabbed from behind.
Dennard had an altercation with someone at a bar and was told he should leave. He left and as he was walking away someone grabbed him from behind. He thought it was the "other guy" and viola, assaulted a cop that was moonlighting as a bouncer and not "on duty" and had not identified himself.

You should never hit anyone. Including cops and especially women and children. But everyone should have the ability to defend themselves. Even from police officers when they are in the wrong, especially off duty barroom bullies.

Maybe Bill paid the cops to do it so his draft stock would fall...?

Even if the guy was on duty he deserved a hell of a lot worse than he got. He should have ended up with a broken face far grabbing a guy from behind for no reason like he did.

Agreed.

I just don't think a bouncer should be considered an off duty cop.
At the grocery store, laundry, church... whatever. Bouncer? No, your not an off duty cop anymore, your another guy with a second job. Security guard at the local mall or the even some rock star. Nope, some guy trying to make a few extra bucks like the rest of us.

So where did these other three cops come from. Did they happen to be in the area and off-duty too?

Why does it matter? Being grabbed from behind is a perfectly legitimate reason to break a nose.

:bullshit:

So if you catch a burglar in your house without him noticing you, and he beats seven shades of shit out of you when you approach him from behind, that would be perfectly legit? You would be happy if he only got busted for breaking and entering?

Same principle!

Context matters. If you are somewhere you legally have a right to be, defending yourself is entirely legitimate.
