Something changed in Demaryius Thomas, and it’s not just his size

Nice little article on DT. Most significant point to me is his loss of 6 pounds and planning to lose 4 more, getting his weight to 222 from 232 last year. The point missed was his spending time with Ware in the off season. I know as soon as the SB was over, they went to Africa on a safari together. This was pointed out by Mingo in a point (regarding Ware's leadership and influence with Von and DT) that I agreed on for a change!*

I also think it says good things about DT that he listens to guys like Ware and Shannon and seems willing to be a learner. I like DT and for both his sake and the team's sake, I hope he has a great year. But a great year in this system may mean less dropped passes but fewer opportunities to catch 100+ passes.

* If you didn't know better, you might think I have a grudge or don't like Mingo! Actually he's my favorite poster on any board I've ever been on with his insights, wit, wisdom and optimism. Just have to keep him humble from time to time. Like three or four times a week. ;)

Although DT had a dropped pass in camp on Monday, all reports say that he's looking beastly, focused and strong this year. I can't think of another member of our championship team that's more motivated to prove that last year was a fluke. He could have an incredible year. Now of course, we need a quarterback that can get him the ball!

Very excited to see what DT can do this year. He said that he spent more time working on catching the football than any other off season of his career. So far the reports of him catching MOST everything thrown his way has been promising. It also sounds like that losing a bit of weight really helped his speed. That was the thing last year is he just didn't look like he had that blazing speed of the past that scared defenses. I saw too often the Corner running stride for stride when usually DT can get a few steps on a guy.

Also excited that it sounds like he is winning the jump ball battles. This has been one part of his game that I haven't always been impressed with. With his size/strength combo I always thought this part of his game should have been better. Maybe this is the year we see him be a bit more aggressive and go win those battles.

DT is a rare WR. Take away last season, and he's been great and not a diva.

That diva part has been a very nice piece of his puzzle. You look at guys like Dez and the headache they have been at times for their organization and it makes you appreciate that DT is the do your job and shut up when you do kind of guy.

I think he will get back on track having the full off season in the system and a lot of the distractions of last year now over. From all that I have heard the guy has worked his tail off this off season but mostly has worked to get his head right. You see this a lot in guys right after a monster contract trying to do too much and then allowing that to compound the more mistakes you make. I'm hoping Von sees that and realizes he just needs to go out and be who he has been so far in his career. He doesn't need to try and do too much as that is when he will get in trouble.

DT's grandma now looks like she will be released from prison sometime this year. Hopefully this doesn't become the distraction to him that we saw this past year. Still happy for him to now have his grandma and mom back in his life.

Constructive remark: The post is exactly one sentence too long. ;)

Great set of posts.

If DT steps up his already stat heavy game - and the Broncos get a run game - they can easily be better offensively - no matter who is QB.
