DeMarcus Ware retiring after 12 seasons

D. Ware elects to retire.

Demarcus Ware had a very large contribution to the Denver Broncos - on the field and in the locker room. By my observation - he got Von Miller turned around in his life. He gave the fans and his teammates everything he had. He gets the handshake - the autograph request - and a selfie - if I run into him.

Thanks for everything Demarcus!

Wise choice, IMO. I thought he might play one more year here or most likely Dallas, but I think it was time for him to hang them up with all his back issues.

Got his Super Bowl ring!

Yeah not much left to play for at this point. Wish him well in retirement and would love to see the Broncos find a way to get him involved with our team.

Man, I'm gonna miss having DeMarcus Ware as a Bronco on Sundays! Class act, leader, great player. Sad to see him go but happy for him in his decision to retire.

I'm guessing Dallas will sign him to a one day contract at some point.

8th all time on the NFL sack list. 1 sack behind Jason Taylor for 7th.

Crazy to think of the all-star names we have had on this team recently. Some of the most popular players ever that also helped to change the culture of this organization.

People outside of our fan base and the city of Denver just don't fully realize what John Elway has done to restore the championship caliber of the Broncos from top to bottom of the organization. I'm not sure that anyone else in the world could have done what he has. It's no surprise that superstars want to play for this team. Elway has gotten quite a bit of national praise but that has always been about the team's record and playoff success. It's the culture that Elway brought back that can never be sold short.

Ware became an instant leader on this team and was a mentor to our budding stars. He will be missed

Class guy, a mentor, and a good player when he was healthy. Probably in his best interest to retire. Enjoy retirement!

Here's to a great player and a great person. Love to see Miller become the next DW for Broncos. " Definition of Warrior " . Retire in Dallas and come work for Denver. :)

Some speculation is that this is a very soft retirement for Ware. Many feel he may end up on the Rams, Cowboys or even Broncos at some point during the season. Just speculation.

His play down the stretch in 2015 was as good as Von's (almost) and his leadership to guide our young superstar should not go overlooked. Lynch played 4 years in Denver without a ring. Ware played 3 and got a ring . Maybe only the ppl inside the facility can answer this question but

Can Denver "Ray Borgue" D Ware? No than likely not

Crazy to read the stories coming out of Dove Valley from the time that DeMarcus Ware was in town. From the times that he stayed after practice to work with Von and others on what to be watching for and when to use certain moves. Heck heard he worked with some of the OL guys to help them not tip their hand to a run or pass (maybe should have spent a bit more time with them). I read stories of coaches coming and asking him questions. Just crazy what this guy brought not only to the team on the field but off of it.

And yes cannot overlook how much Ware meant to Von. Hopefully we don't see the same spiral out of control like we did after Dumervil left the building. Von seems to be in a much better place right now so I'm thinking he will keep it together.

....but I digress.

DeMarcus Ware could still reportedly play in 2017

However, at least one reporter claims that Ware could still potentially play in 2017, as Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sports Network in Denver claimed on Pro Football Talk Live that this is actually a “soft retirement.” In other words, Ware could be looking to rest up and heal before helping a title contender down the stretch.
