It's gotta be eerie ... leaving one clubhouse, going across the infield to the other and suiting up for the opposing team in the ballpark where you just played as a home player yesterday.
All things considered, a great slight past prime platoon guy that doesn't have much power or speed, and doesn't hit .300, in not too sorry we missed him. The Nats have the right role- a bench role for him. IMO, I want a "leader" to lead to hardware...and that's hard to do from the bench, or hitting .270 and no other stats playing more.
I dunno if they have a plan after Choo leaves for free agency, but I hope it's a better one than Heisey or Hamiltob or Robinson or Paul or DeJesus. Lots of doubts here... I think they were supposed to win THIS year, and convince Choo /Arroyo to stick around on the cheap another year. Still may.
I'd be fine with Hamilton in Cf if he was doing a good impersonation of say, a young Rod Carew, or Davey Lopes for that matter. I just can't imagine Dusty chucking everything he's built his résumé on, to accommodate that kind of player though. He'd have Lou Brock trying to hit 30 HR and giving him 15 steal signs a year. I also think that if MLB is at all serious about PEDs, Dusty's way is going the way of the passenger pidgeon and the buffalo.
They say all wars start with outdated tactics and better weapons...and result in unacceptable casualties.
Lotsa people think that speed and small ball are outdated tactics, but they are basing that on the PED weapons. If those weapons are reduced, I disagree, to a degree.
