There's been some buzz that he may fall into the 20s. If Cincy drafts CB at 17, and DeCastro is still there at 21, and we don't take him, I'm driving to NY and pistol-whipping Marvin and Mike.

There is a not a snowball's chance in hell that the Bengals take him at 17 or 21. They consider him too slow to be picked that high. Not I agree but it is what it is.

Mike Brown has always undervalued guards.....why should we expect him to change? That said I'll hold him down so you can get in a couple of extra shots.....

I think they'll pass on him even if he is there at 21. Who needs DeCastro when you have Jacob Bell and Otis Hudson?

You won't have to drive to NY. Didn't ya hear? They both stayed in Cincy. Why waste money on a trip to NY when you could just watch TV and talk over the phone about who you're gonna pick?

Joe Reedy said DeCastro was the 3rd G on Cincy's board behind Zietler and Glenn.

That was my thought. Probably didn't see DeCastro play a single game.

Anyone who was studying Andrew Luck closely would have easily picked up on DeCastro. I watched five Stanford games myself last year and DeCastro stuck out. Of course Pac 12 competition is not so excellent, and he probably didn't take on any really scary defensive players, but I only watched Wisconsin play once, so I didn't get a good look at Zeitler.

Only the Bengals could trade back for a worse player at the same position that was available with their original pick.

Only the Bengals...

I find it amusing that so many people are 'irritated' that we didn't take DeCastro..... How often have you watched the kid play? And if you did watch every single game, were you really watching the guard play? Were you really an evaluator of NFL talent? Give me a break.

I've said it too many times over the past day, but I'll say it again. Pro scouts did not grade DeCastro as high as many talking heads thought they would. It's easy to make a case for Zeitler..... He was the best lineman on an offensive line that has continuously developed first rate NFL talent. He's a solid pick, a known commodity, and he netted you an extra third rounder.

And pick up an additional third in the process. You can't leave that out, especially considering that grades on DeCastro might not be all that different than they were on Zeitler.

That 3rd is essentially a 4th. And based on our drafting history, the pick will amount to nothing.

Everything I've read and heard had DeCastro rated higher. The Steelers having the option for both also had DeCastro rated higher. That's not to say Zeitler won't be a better player in the long run, but considering our drafting history, it was a foolish move to pass on a higher rated player.

DeCastro > Zeitler + the 90th or so pick.

Not to the Bengals, and that's all that matters really. Paul Alexander is inlove with Zeitler, and Lapham (forever the bengal homer) was all over this kid and said he wanted him over DeCastro and Glenn if the Bengals were to go guard in the 1st round.

I'll take it. It's not like Zeitler was some small time school big fish in a small pond player. The guy comes from a run heavy, heavily regarded program. He's started 36 of 40 games, and graded out in the 97% for his career (if I read that correctly from another article on ESPN). 0 sacks allowed. Big time oppoents. Smart. Durable. Can play center as well as guard.

I'm not going to complain.
