Another tough one for me but I really like stokes lineup.

Ortiz "clogging" the bases at the 8 spot might not be ideal, but Ortiz as your 8 hitter? Daaaaaamn.

I'm going stoke.

Here's my take on my team:

I built this team for matchups and they can matchup against anyone. This team is so deep, that with the batting orders I posted on the team thread - Ortiz wasn't even a starter and two hall of famers didn't start vs. LHP. So here's how it breaks down, as constituted on this thread:

1. Lou Brock - second best base steal in MLB history.
2. Rod Carew - batted .344/.405/.460/.865 from 1969-1978 including 4 35+ SB seasons
3. Ken Griffey - 630 career HR including 7 consecutive seasons with 40 when he played at least 100 games.
4 Alex Rodriguez - 685 Career HR including 8 with 40+ (also a 40-40 guy)
5. Carl Yastrzemski - 646 2B 452 HR and a triple crown winner.
6. Larry Walker - 471 2B 383 HR and may be the best hitter against LHP on my team, despite hitting LH.
7. Gary Carter - 371 2B 324 HR (though I wouldn't have hit him here).
8. David Ortiz - 500 career HR
9. Paul Molitor - 605 2B 234 HR 500 SB coming from #9 (would lead off against lefties)

Bench consists of HoFer at catcher (Gabby Hartnett), 4x SB king (Ben Chapman), Hall of Fame all around offensive stud I would have started instead of Ortiz (Chuck Klein), 8x All Star (Harvey Kuenn) and late bloomer but solid in a short career utility outfielder (Lance Richbourg).

Rotation:
1. Doc Gooden - 1st pitcher with 200 strike outs in first 3 seasons - 1985 was highest WAR by a pitcher since 1920.
2. Bob Lemon - HoFer with 207 wins
3. Roy Halladay - 203 wins 2x Cy Young
4. Gary Peters - 2x ERA king (77-49 2.50 ERA 1963-1967)
5. Johnny Antonelli - 114-89 3.09 ERA 1953-1959

Bullpen:
Roy Face - 3x Sv leader, 2x G leader MLB record .947 winning percentage (1959), (89-78 181 sv 3.09 ERA 1956-1968)
Joe Sambito - 301 G 30-30 2.21 ERA 71 sv 1977-1982 (including 3 years under 2.20 ERA, 2 under 2.00).
Hugh Casey - 2x sv leader, 1.99 ERA in 1946. 3.11 career ERA as a reliever
George Caster - 1x sv leader . 20-16 2.46 ERA 1942-1944.
Lou Brissie - 11-5 141 G 249.2 Inn 2.67 ERA career as a reliever.

UK in a very close series.

If it goes game 7 - I like Lemon against UK's roster over Mussina vs. mine. Just my opinion though.

I think the lineups are equally great, I like my starting pitching slightly better, as well as a close edge in the pen and bench. Close score doesn't surprise me at all, it's a really close matchup. Lots of good teams, surprising considering how difficult it was

I honestly think that there are at least 8 players on my team that people may not even know - including the back half of the rotation and the entire bullpen. :)

I'd think most everyone knows everyone anymore. That's the best part of these drafts IMO.

Not surprised this one is going down to the wire. So even, and as much as I wish it was because both teams sucked that is not the case lol.

There are 3 certainties in life.....death. taxes, and Milk not voting for UK, lol. JK, but I have no problem with Stoke moving on so we can move on. I change my vote in this matchup to Stoke. Was a toss up anyway. Congrats Bro
