Not a bad move for my Dbacks… finally get rid of Hill's ridiculous contract and Anderson was expendable with how deep the rotation is with three 4/5 starters battling it out for that last spot.

We needed some speed in the lineup and he'll add that while shedding some salary as well to open up the possibility of another FA signing. I like it.

Segura was really good in 2013 but has struggled the last 2 years outside of stealing bases. Only 25 though so a bounce back year is possible. Brewers have a good SS in their farm system, so trading Segura was expected and they get Chase Anderson who should help their rotation. DBacks have a great defensive SS already in Ahmed, not sure if he'll slide over to second or move to the bench.

Dbacks also save 6.5 million with this deal so that's huge. Ahmed is a defensive whiz but sucks offensively and Owings is kinda the same with more speed but he plays short and second. This adds some depth, I imagine those three all splitting time between 2B/SS.

Anderson wasn't making our rotation so it was either send him to AAA or move him to the pen where he doesn't have much experience so I don't mind dealing him either.

I think it was a good deal for both, DBacks get some speed in their lineup possibly a leadoff hitter and save money. Brewers get rid of Segura to clear the way for Arcia and add to their SP depth.

Yup. First trade I've seen in a while that actually makes sense for both sides, lol.

What's the DBacks rotation look like? I know Greinke/Miller/Corbin is 1-3 and Archie Bradley should be competing for a spot at least.

Greinke-Miller-Corbin-Ray- then De La Rosa, Bradley, Shipley or Godley. My guess is Rubby starts with it and gets a short leash with the young guys right behind him.

At least one Arcia should finally get his fair shake in the big leagues. SMH.

And good move for Dbacks. Not much to lose on that except salary which is a good thing lol

Forgot about Ray, he had some great games last year.

I don't know how you can think Segura is equal to Hill.
I didn't say they were equal. I said that two teams traded unexciting players in an unexciting way.

That's what "meh" means.

I happen to think Segura is an exciting piece for Arizona. He'll hit at the top of the lineup and swipe a good amount of bases. A change of scenery could also bring back his offense from two years ago.

I'm just happy Hill is gone. Saving $$$

If Segura pans out, sweet. He has some upside… if not, still got Owings, Ahmed and Drury to play SS/2B so we're set either way.

The Dbacks only saved a net of $4 mil after figuring in Segura's salary.

The question is: Is Isan Diaz worth more than $4mil?

Segura is a good candidate to bounce back in 2016. One has to wonder how much having his infant son die midway through the 2014 season played a role in his regression? He will likely spend the majority of time at 2B. Looks like it will be a 4 man competition between Owings, Drury, Segura, & Gosselin for 2B during the spring.

Anderson/Wagner is almost a wash. Anderson is a proven back of the rotation piece, who will pitch 150+ innings of near league average ball. Wagner is 3 years younger with one more season of control than Anderson, A sinker ball pitcher who was a relief pitcher in college. He will start in Reno & could be back in the BP when called up.

Diaz was a fringe top 10 prospect coming into 2016 for the Dbacks. While he is still a good 3-4 years from possibly seeing a big league ball club, he did hit very well in Missoula in 2015.
