Released today. Think we should sign him and trade Carson?

Bizzare story. Jags did this a couple years ago, surprisingly releasing Leftwich for Garrard days before the opener. Now it's Garrard who gets axed for Luke McCown i guess

Yeah, that's what I read. McCown will start. My guess is they'll start McCown, and see if he somehow just lights things up (unlikely), then switch to Gabbert.

What i don't get is Del Rio needs to win this year to keep his job. So why cut your most experienced QB days before the opener?

Oh, I agree. It's a stupid move IMO. McCown and Gabbert won't get them anywhere.

Wow, I'd certainly rather have Gerrard than Gradkowski, but on the other hand, we may just need to hunker down and let Dalton take his lumps.

The guy's a solid starting NFL QB. I'd take him in a second.. if Dalton ends up as good as Garrard in a yr or two I'll consider it a good pick

nah..they should roll with Dalton and Gradkowski. Grad's not as bad as he's played in the pre-season and I want to see this year what Dalton has to offer. If he's not the guy the sooner they draft a legitmate QB prospect the better (especially with next year's QB class). In other words, no reason to drag out the andy dalton era. let him sink or swim and let's get this over with.

Garrard is horrible wouldn't help the Bengals at all. Would rather struggle with Dalton this year and hope for the best next year and get a top 10 draft pick.

Steelers need another throwaway Jaguar QB backup now that Lefty is down and out. :)

He would be a good fit as Steelers backup. Ben does get knocked around a bit due to his style of play.

...

Of course, if he signs with Seattle, you can forget getting much of a good trade for Carson loafers and robe Palmer.
