Datsun returns on 7/15

I never owned one but I know ol' "z" owners are fond of the entry-level sportscars. Could be interesting.

Already 'launched' in South Africa according to one of the links on the webpage.

Looks like the Datsun brand name will only be used in 'developing markets'; India/Russia/etc. - Don't think that we'll see them here in the States.

I sure wish they'd re-introduce the Datsun 1600 & 2000 Roadsters from the '60s. My older brother had a '67 Fair Lady series with the lower height windshield. The late '67s up until the last ones had to have a taller dorky looking windshield to satisfy the american government. The car had AWSOME styling and handled great. My brother had an aftermarket hardtop that looked great on it also. The early 510 series were race cars from the factory with independent suspensions. Many were used for weekend warriors and wrecked. Simply strap the suspension down and slap a # on the door, you had a race car. I learned to drive in my mom's '71 510 and it was a lot of fun while getting around 35 mpg city.

I don't believe they will be available in America. At least not initially.

Had a 75 280Z back in the day. Not a reliable car. Electrical nightmare. Maybe they'll do better this time around.

Parents had a Datsun 710 when I was a kid. Not sure why I remember that tidbit....
