Rick Stroud:

Bucs DE Da'Quan Bowers suffered a torn Achilles tendon, team says.

Bowers suffered the torn Achilles in the off-season workout program

Plans for Bowers surgery Friday are being finalized.

Bowers is the third Bucs defensive lineman drafted in the first two rounds to suffer potentially a season-ending injury.

DE Gerald McCoy suffered torn left and right biceps in '10 and '11. DT Brian Price missed most of '10 with a pelvic injury.

Why is this in the SF thread?

Hearing down here it might just be a pull of the Achilles, if so he'll be back, if it's a tear then we are fucked on the D-Line.

Seems like that theory about the lockout causing a lot of Achilles injuries last year might have hit a snag... that is two this offseason already, right?

Seems like these guys are just getting too big and fast for that poor little Achilles.

It's 3. Jason Peters first, then Suggs, now Bowers.

Didn't bowers have knee problems in college that is why he didn't go in the first round?

There are at least 13 other discussions on this board that were not created by me that have nothing to do with the 49ers. It happens all the time.

Yes. An article I found cited "potential long-term arthritis" in the knee.

Too bad; he was an extremely talented player before the injuries. Good thing for him he got a little bit of money out of his career because it looks like he's gonna be an injury bust.

Many people on this board were interested in Bowers in college and throughout the draft process. Just because he didn't become a 49er, doesn't mean people aren't still interested in his progress or injury news related to him.

This is probably one of the more active team boards on here, so you will see all kinds of non-49er related topics on the 49er board.

You guys have suffered some major d-line injuries the last few seasons. Hope that doesn't continue for the foreseeable future as I'd rather the 49ers beat a healthy team with their best players on the field.

Well said. We follow other NFL teams even if we don't root for 'em.
