Remember back at the beginning of the year when there were 'sources' in the Bengals organization that doubted Dalton's ability to be an NFL quarterback.

Hmmmm..... I hope the sources have some pull within the organization, but I really doubt it.

And yes, I think we'll win games next year..... It would be hard to lose games in this league when you have a good D and consistently get to play teams with horrible rosters and horrible coaches.

I wouldn't be shocked to see us go 10-6. The key components of the defense will all return and they'll keep us in most games. And there a lot of bad teams on our schedule.

I think Mike Brown has found a 'winning' formula.... We have enough of a nucleus to go 9-7 or 10-6 for the next three or four years. We'll keep making the playoffs and continue to lose.

As I said. Not much is going to change, so just hope Andy gets better, because neither Marvin or Mike Brown is going to make a change there until Dalton is sucking during the regular season so badly they have no choice. If he keeps playing above average during the season, no way he doesn't keep getting the opportunity to go 1 and out.

However, no matter what happens, I cannot and will not stop watching the Bengals football. Without them, I am not even a football fan. I would stop watching football altogether probably if not for the Bengals. I do like Denver still, but not enough to follow them outside the playoffs.

Same with the Reds, if they left Cincinnati, and was no longer around, etc, I would not even watch a single baseball game. As it is right now, I watch about 100 games a year on tv.

I'll watch the games on TV but I won't go to any or buy anything Bengals related.

I can't wait to go to some Reds games this summer though.

This never happened. Dalton sucked on average and especially over the last 5 weeks, and nothing has changed nor will it. As Grad said, as long as the defense remains as good as it is now, it'll get us to the playoffs or damn close year in and year out. And that is good enough for Mikey.

The only hope is Andy gets better, but it's not likely as many of his deficiencies that haven't improved in 2 seasons likely won't in the future.

You need to take a hard look at the rest of the quarterbacks in the league and realize that almost nothing about Dalton is 'above average'

Here are qb statistics to compare during the year, but I would even argue that Dalton looks even worse just giving an eye test. The stats may actually help him and they are very pedestrian
NFL Stats: by Player Position

15th in QBR
16th in Yards
15th in Completion Percentage
7th in TD passes
2 winning seasons, 2 playoff appearances out of 2 chances
19-15 record as starter including playoffs.

I would say he is "slightly" above average in the league of starting QB's. I am not saying I am happy with it, but as long as he remains about "HERE" he will not lose his job with Marvin and Mike Brown calling the shots.

he'll be gone when his contract expires.

We're not going to over pay for a mid tier QB, but some team out there will throw desperation money at him.

All are highly correlated with our offensive scheme - as these statistics will be most highly skewed with what is essentially a pure passing offense

But it is what it is. Those are his rankings in those categories, the most important categories for a QB outside wins. I would still classify him as a "slighty" above average QB. I am not saying his good, as I am done defending him so blindly, but I am saying, Marvin and Mike will let him continue as long as he sustains this level of play, so they can give him a smaller contract and continue to pay guys like Atkins and Green.

You conveniently forgot these:

19th in YPG
25th in Interceptions
18th in ypa
3rd worst in sacks (makes for a much nicer completion % when you aren't getting rid of the ball and taking sacks instead - heck sacks are worse than incompletions with the loss of yards). And this when he faced the 4th least pressure of 38 qualifying QBs.

I think calling him average is pretty generous.

But taking a sack is less costly than an INT by trying to force soemthing without feeling confident in your throw.

Those are all worth mentioning indeed, but like I said, this is not of my opinion, this is and will be the opinion of our head coach and owner.

Dalton has been very average I will agree but I'm not sure how many QBs in this league I take over him.

Brady
Luck
Big Ben
Manning
Manning
RGIII
Stafford
Rodgers
Cutler
Bree's
Ryan
Newton
Wilson

Those guys for sure. These guys are maybe:

Tannehill
Schaub
Flacco
Rivers
Romo
Bradford
Kaepernick

So 13 for sure ahead of him and another 7 maybes for me. So to me he would rank some where between the 14th best to the 21st best QB in the league. Very slightly above average to slightly below average.
