We had a window, and in true Bengals fashion, we decided to slam it shut on ourselves.

I expected a $100 mil deal, but let's see what the G $ is...I can't see them going much more than $30mil if that much.

Were I a Bengal fan I'm not sure how I feel about this. He puts up great stats in the regular season, but he's 0-3 post season - and let's be honest, his worst post season game was his last one. He wasn't the only one that had buttered popcorn before the game but he played his worst game all year.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about having a QB that saves his worst games until the post season.

Could the Bengals have Tony Romo 3.0 or is it Peyton Manning 2.0?

Time will tell.

"Dalton can’t handle pressure, but his saving grace is that he sees it less than just about anybody else in the league."

yep, if he played for the Bears he would have been laughed out of the league by now.

Time has told. He is a bum, and the statistics outlined in that Grantland article show it.

Even more fodder for how completely effed the Bengals would be if AJ Green were to leave. Oddly enough, the majority of the Dalton fanboys here are the same guys who criticize Green the most.

it's not so much that he waits until the playoffs, he simply just can't perform well against good defenses.

The only way we're getting rid of the dude is if he pulls a Carson Palmer and leaves town.

Get your trash ready.

Early mumblings suggest that the contract is structured a lot like Kaeps..... That would be great news for us. If the amount of guaranteed cash is limited in future years, this was a good move by the Bengals. They had tons to spare this year, so a big signing bonus doesn't hurt. If Dalton plays well, we keep him all 6 years at an increasingly affordable price (the cap will be jumping significantly). If he continues to struggle in big games and the postseason, we keep him for one or two more years and get rid of him with limited cap consequence.

This all assumes early mumblings are true..... And ignores the fact that Dalton sucks and they should have drafted a good quarterback.

maybe this just takes the pressure off of McCarron for the next few years.

also, may give us a chance at a first round talent at QB, if the OL implodes Dalton will be running around and throwing ints.

I guess I will have to see how the contract is structured I guess.

As long as they have money to extend Green and Burfict very long term, I am okay with it.

However, I do kind of agree with Green on one point, “He gets too much crap about we’re not winning the playoff games, but we all put a hand in that.”

The defense was horrible in that game as well. Not the defense I was used to seeing during the regular season. SD just marched dwon the field at will it seemed like. Dalton did have much more pressure, although Dalton needs to be a better QB now with this kind of pay and turn that rush pressure into jailbreaks because it means someone is not covered, or someone is single covered who should not be.

A good signing for Cincy. They lockup one of the best young QB's in the league.

Ridiculous.

The defense gave up 7 points in the first half. All second half points were scored off turnovers and the damage should have been MUCH worse -- The D held SD to field goals rather than touchdowns. The late run that put us away was understandable...... The D had been on the field too much.
