They definitely don't have enough cap space to land LMA now. They need a PG real bad.

Yes I agree he was way overhyped, so was Matthews.

But regardless Portland has just let their 50+ win core group go and has left their all-star PG alone with nothing around him.

This seems like they are trying to recreate Marion and Chandler with Dirk. I don't see it making the team much better next year but it gives them two great role players to recruit a big name next year or whenever Dirk retires

Although they are out of the running for LMA, that might be a good thing. As of right now their starting point guard is Raymond Felton so yeah they really do need a point guard. Jeremy Lin is looking more and more like a viable solution for the Mavs. Not only because of the Chandler Parsons bromance but because of an amicable upcoming contract. The Mavericks could realistically get him for around 7 mil a year and I believe he would fit in well with their offense.
