You really never know. Some trades are exactly as they seem but some take a 180 so hard to evaluate at the time of the trade

i strongly disagree.... i think people hide behind the results of a trade to defend their bad trades...

a trade is evaluated by the current value of the trade... sure, future projections are a big factor.... but when something unforeseen happens, pretending that it was all part of your master plan is just defending your bad decision in the first place...

IMO people in general are so afraid to admit they messed up, that they just look for any reason they can to convince everyone else that they did not mess up

the guy that has said he would veto almost every trade and has called them all bad trades doesn't like a trade???

So if you are building for the future bc you have a young team you think it is wrong to evaluate the trade in 2 or 3 years? I don't agree. This is just like real life.

For example, you don't evaluate a player for picks trade until the player drafted are 2-3 years down the road.

Not every trade is the same or has the same purpose.

Just like some players. They have a ridiculous season and the next season they regress. So current value means little if they regress...some trades depend on upside and if you hit that upside the trade is successful

you bring up real life draft picks... that is actually a perfect way for me to demonstrate my point...

Falcons draft Bo Nix, in 3 years Bo Nix can very well be the best QB... but does that make the Bo nix pick make sense today??

there are so many factors than can happen to affect the evaluation done in the future... you can not say lets see if this was a good move today...

just like moves can work out well, moves can also backfire... but that does not mean at the time of the trade/draft pick that it was a better or worse move....

if i trade you 100 dollars for 2 Mega million lotto tickets...

would that not be a stupid purchase on my part... why does that change if those 2 lotto tickets later on win over 100 dollars??

sure, but a close trade will always be subjective no matter what... we are not talking about that... we are talking about a bad trade or a bad signing or a bad draft pick.... It is a mistake that just somehow worked out for you...

Lol, I hadda go look the guy's name up.

Remember Trent Richardson?

I forget who I traded to @Barilko for him, but IIRC, it gave Bar the Barbarians championship that year.

As soon as I acquired him, Trent Richardson fell off the freakin' cliff and was never heard from again.

Sigh...I can laugh about it now. :pound: :pound: :pound:

That is the point. How can you call a bad trade, bad, when you first make the trade lol

Well Penix went to the Falcons but anyway...yes, it does make sense bc they are building for the future.

So bc Josh Allen had years of development that was a bad pick for the Bills? That literally makes no sense.

@Trudem is OTC until 6:23 in the morning.

Just so everyone knows the rule;
If you go over the amounted time, you can still make a pick. But the next person in line can pick before you.
