Create the all-time best starting 5 lineup using any present or past player.

Mine:

PG: Magic Johnson
SG: MJ
SF: Lebron
PF: Bird (I know he's a SF, but I'm classifying him as a stretch 4 )
C: Olajuwon (toughest position for me to decide...Wilt, Russell, Shaq, Kareem etc.)

I figure since come power forwards are 6'10 or taller Wilt Qualifies.:

I would start with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and make him the focal point of my halfcourt offense and the last line of defense. I would put Magic Johnson at point guard because if needed he has the versatility to play other positions in a pinch. He is also a proven winner who knows how to play with Cap. Larry Bird gets added for his ability to stretch the defense and man both forward positions. Lebron James gets the nod over Bill Russell at the other forward spot because of his scoring ability. Although Russell's rebounding and defense would be welcome, I want my 5-man team to be able to score consistently from every position and I want the majority of my team to be able to handle the ball and set up the offense. Michael Jordan rounds out my starting 5. He will be used in a scoring capacity and will alternate with Lebron James when guarding the opposing team's best wing players. So...

C) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
PF) Larry Bird
SF) Lebron James
SG) Michael Jordan
PG) Magic Johnson

My second-team would be:

C) Wilt Chamberlain - For dominant post scoring, rebounding and defense
PF) Bill Russell - For dominant post defense and rebounding
SF) John Havlicek - For his hustle and his ability to shoot the long ball and make big plays
SG) Kobe Bryant - For his ability to heat up and carry the scoring load on some nights and disruptive defense on others
PG) Oscar Robertson - For his all-around versatility

Third Team:

C) Shaquille O'Neal
PF) Hakeem Olajuwon
SF) Julius Erving
SG) Jerry West
PG) Isiah Thomas

***I did not just pick the best players and stick them together. I considered what kind of chemistry/synergy would be involved with their individual strengths and weaknesses.***
