I wonder whatever happened to that guy. IIRC in 2006 or 2007 he was named the started and did a really solid job. Then the guy kind of fell off the map. Maybe he'll exceed expectations this time around.

fwiw, it was Budaj's scheduled start last night, so they just went without a back-up.
speculation was, Scott Hannan would have got the call if Budaj got hurt.

He made a couple of dandy saves (blocks) last night before Schafer potted that 3rd period goal.

not a good way to get injured but if it has to happen its better on a night when the backup gets the start at least hes got some type of momentum going. he was ok last night. Andersson was great last year but that team had to be much better this year to repeat what they did having Budaj in will just have the effect to elevate those young kids more.

that would save Boston for sure. wouldnt hurt the Avs but 60+ games in the West for Thomas should be interesting to watch unfold.

Very odd mechanism to that. Really though anytime a goalie is down in that butterfly any type of push off could lead to an ACL tear...doesn't take too much.
