So was looking on ProFootballFocus today and while yes they are subjective in some ways in their grading I do for the most part like what they do...For this past game 3 of the Bronco OL players finished as the 1st or 2nd best player at their position. In fact Franklin and Ramirez finished 1-2 for OG play and Vasquez finished 2nd for OT. Not bad after the atrocious play they had been having this year. At Center is was our old boy Walton now playing for the Giants. He was a guy I was hoping we wouldn't let go but unfortunately injuries just derailed his time here in Denver.

Hopefully the OL sees this as a growing point and we see this kind of performance from here on out. I'm also hoping the Broncos stick with some of these bigger packages like they did with Green and Cornick both playing quite a few snaps at the TE position to help with blocking. Giving Manning a perfect pocket most of the game is huge as we have too much speed at receiver for them to keep covered for longer than 3-seconds.

I doubt that anyone is too surprised how well the offensive linemen graded out. Watching them play made me think how prescient this except from an article I posted last week was:

"Three offensive linemen, Ramirez, left tackle Ryan Clady and guard Orlando Franklin, remain from the 2011 Broncos team that led the NFL in rushing. Ramirez said he still believes the Broncos offensive line , as it is made up now, can be a mauling group that can control a game.

"We need to be able to have the opportunity to do it, you know what I'm saying?" Ramirez said. "If you give them 50 opportunities to get to the quarterback, they're going to get to him eventually and that's what happened. So how do you prevent that? You try to run the ball. Try to be productive. And whether it is a lot of opportunities or little opportunities, try to take advantage of those.""

I'm wondering if the OL went and had a nice chat with Manning and Gase and said "you guys are killing us with all these pass plays!" At least if I was one of the guys it is what I would do after taking so much criticism. Especially when you are on the road running the ball is the best thing that you can do to help slow down pass rushes when they know when the ball is going to be snapped. I'm hoping we go into KC this week with the exact same game plan as this week as we do not want Houston and Hali to have the green light to go pass rush every single play. To me that will be the keys to the game of establishing the run game and stopping the run on defense. We do that and honestly I think we can win in a blow out. Don't do one of those and it could get tight. Don't do either and it is a guaranteed loss in my opinion unless we get some lucky turnovers...

On that note why in the world are we having so much trouble getting forced fumbles this year or at least recovering forced fumbles? We I think forced something like 4 fumbles yesterday and couldn't recover a single one of them. WE put the ball on the ground on one play and Miami recovers it. Hopefully we start getting a few lucky bounces to finally go our way.

Can't imagine that we go to KC not intending to build on the strong rushing performance from yesterday. KC ranks first in the league in passing yards per game against and 26th in rushing yards against. Stats like those can be misleading, but given how effectively we ran the ball yesterday and how good the KC pass rush has been (tied for fourth in sacks), I will be shocked it we revert back to a pass heavy attack,

We definitely have had some bad luck recovering fumbles, particularly yesterday.

Would love to see the defense play like it did in the third and most of the fourth quarter for the remainder of the season. If we could count on that, then I like our chances for success the rest of the way.

Funny how I was posting a month ago about how Denver needs to commit to running game and many said Denver's offense wasn't built that way or the O line sucks or the ribs do. Now the same people are saying " I I told ya so". There is/was no way Denver would go deep into playoffs in till they changed their mindset in game plan. I for one think if they continue to bring a balanced offense on the field every game and stay healthy, they have a much better shot now. Trev coming back and Del Rio getting it in to his thick skull to play tight bump coverage on 3rd downs will help also. Ps. Burris needs to look at game film of the elite return guys and see they move north and south not east, west and backwords. One move and go. That's how the good ones do it. Go Broncos and pound the ball down KCs throat men!

This right here is where a lot of people are missing about our defense from yesterday. They actually played pretty darn well in the 2nd half. The touchdown in the 3rd quarter came only after the fumbled punt return giving them a very short field. In the 4th quarter it came in what was mostly garbage time when we are up 2 scores and went more prevent defense...yes I know all of us hate hearing our team do it but it is what it is. So again defense sucked first half but made some nice adjustments and did pretty darn well 2nd half. Throw in they made the game sealing play with the pick. That is one of the things I was waiting to see with this defense is for them to make that game-changing play and we finally got to see it.

Oh I agree Randymon. What helped us out so much in the playoffs last year is we actually did commit to the run game in the 1st 2 playoff games. Obviously things went horribly wrong in the Super Bowl but this team when they do seem to commit to the run usually find a way to win. I'm actually pretty sure in our 3 losses this year we have ran the ball 20 or less times each time. In all of our wins we have ran 21 or more carries. So obviously there is a correlation between this team having success and deciding to run it. I'm also hoping that Gase keeps going to the big sets with Green and Cornick coming in and playing TE. As great as Julius Thomas is as a pass catcher he is our biggest liability in the run game. He refuses to block. I have seen him just completely stop when running at a guy to block and just let them go right around them. This is why I honestly hope we don't resign him. He is a great help in the pass game but hurts our run game way too much.

As for the defense I agree we need to play more press-man coverage. We did play more of it yesterday than I have seen in a while and unfortunately Tannehil was very accurate yesterday. He fit some nice passes into some very tiny windows. There were quite a few plays that the ball 6 inches either way and our guy is right there knocking it down.

Im with you. The o line is just fine but Broncos fans need to understand when you pass the ball every down and the other team doesnt respect the run and just rush the passer every down. (Rams) any offensive line would look bad. The o line playing a great game was no surprise to me and shouldn't be to any Broncos fans. At K.C. with the noise will be a good test. Just saying.

The Bills/Jets game will be played on CBS but only in the designated network areas that it was originally going to play. So mostly only in the Buffalo and NY City areas. We outside of that area will only have the original MNF game.

That is unless you have the NFL Package on DirectTV then of course you can watch the game wherever you are.
