The irony is that this Winnipeg team is going to be tons better off the the hop than the team that was gutted back in '79 (they won the last AVCO championship) upon entering the NHL with the demise of the WHA. I think the Winnipeg fans know this as well and that helped spur ticket sales.

/I'll be rooting for them in the SE division.

the rumors were the cap hit for next season was going to $63.5 mill ... its comical that the revenue increase generated by the manitoba joose strong ticket demand will probably mean the cap increases even more NEXT July 1st

they generated 50 mill in their ticket drive ... Atlanta was generating between 20 and 30 mill in gate revenue

Ticket drive means big money for Winnipeg - The Globe and Mail

congrats and good luck winnipeg

Canadian dollar plunges

Meh, they have money bags David Thomson this go-around, besides I wouldn't start worrying with the loonie at 97 cents to the greenback. Now, if it drops below 85 cents, then there's cause for concern (not just for the Jets, but for league wide revenues).

i know its not the end of the world right now ... especially when they have 3 hour radio pregame shows for the Penticton young stars games and thousands of fans showing up to open practices

/but I think bettman is somehow behind the declining loonie :thumb:
