Are the Coyotes moving as well?

Nope, the Coyotes are staying put in Glendale for at least one more year...I wouldn't count on any road or sewer improvements for the next 12 months in Glendale, though.

It depends on a couple of things:

1. If they find a buyer and/or
2. If the City of Glendale decides to pump another $25 million to the league to continue running the team.

Hulsizer's patience with the Coyotes ordeal has worn out and who can blame him. Things are pretty quiet right now with no new buyers expressing interest in purchasing the team.

While I don't think it would happen, it would be mildly amusing if down the road NO ONE had any interest in attempting to purchase the Coyotes, after watching the NHL run all other potential suitors through the ringer.

I really don't get dismissing Dudley. He at least earned an extra year for the Byfuglien and Ladd trades alone and seemed to be building a pretty good young team.

Not to mention he was the guy that built the Bolts before Feaster swooped in and took the credit in '04...Dudley is a good hockey man, he'll get another job in the not too distant future.

Yeah but still. True North has been doing everything right over the past couple of years, but this move just seems categorically stupid.

Not that I am complaining mind you. Lost in all the excitement of Winnipeg returning, they are still in the way of the Leafs making the playoffs next year. This team is on the verge of being really good, but I hope they can hold off a season until they move into the West and mess with your Flames :D

The Flames don't need any help in messing up, they've got that down to a science...

It could be that he didn't want to go.

Dudley did an interview with the Fan 590 regarding his not continuing with the team in Winnipeg. He seems disappointed that he won't be able to see the fruits of his labour in building this team. If interested, the link to the interview can be found here:

KuklasKorner and look for story Rick Dudley upset, disappointed about being let go

Any news / idea on what the team is going to be called? I heard that the Coyotes franchise had the rights to the Jets... would they give up those rights? Or would the Winnipeg franchise just go with another name?

I feel bad for Atlanta. It is not a very good sports market in general, but they never really had a chance to succeed. Only made the playoffs once in 10 years, and even when they did they got swept. If they had a successful team on the ice, I am interested to see how things would have played out.

Phx doesn't own the Jets name/logo, the NHL does (as with all defunct/relocated franchises).
the question is.... play into nostalgia, or get a huge push in jersey sales from a new name?
I think I know what the answer the NHL will push for.

also, the history that goes with the jets team does not come with the team that is coming in.
