I hope this isn't too far off topic.

For us commuters.

Unless you work for a very large corporation...you interact with more people while driving on a daily basis...what pet peeves drives your blood pressure up?

For me...#1 texting drivers, illegal in GA...one of the few offenses I will blow the horn at.

#2, drivers that don't signal bother me, but that's more inconsiderate than dangerous...but I just witnessed an interstate accident where 2 vehicles were trying to change into the same lane from opposite sides, neither signaled and they crashed...not a real bad wreck, but it was a wreck that probably could've been avoided if they had signaled.

In DC (worst traffic and drivers in the nation), on the highway, if there is room to parallel park, people will merge in between without yielding. Often for no reason at all.

People who know a lane is closed or ending and still rides it to the end, backing everyone up. There is an exit only lane I deal with every day and every day there is some jackwad who stops everyone trying to get on I-35 so he can try to jump over and avoid 30 seconds worth of traffic.

Pretty much this...people that change lanes when there is little to no room and they often don't even signal.

Riding it to the end...that's a big one here too...I deal with 2 mergers like that every day.

Filling every gap...I try to leave 2-3 car lengths when it raining and same thing...people hop in only to jam on the brakes in 50'.

Worst...ATL is pretty high up on the list, but I have to agree...DC/HOU are worst than us for rush hour. The non-rush hour traffic is what is so frustrating here...it moves, but volume is so heavy that any mishap will cause a rush hour like delay

1) Anything cellphone related

2) Slower drivers who don't get out of the passing lane

3) In the past 5 years.... the amount of drivers who don't turn off their brights has increased tenfold

You don't see many metro ATL drivers doing that...they seem to know better, but we have 3 major interstates coming through town...lot of out of state drivers...far left lane, they are either driving way too fast or driving the speed...way too slow.

Speed limit + 5 is about all you get away with here now with all these speed traps lately.

I have never had any rush hour problems in Atlanta (except the one time I made the mistake of taking 285 - in a failed attempt at avoiding 75 South rush hour.

I agree.
Most down there get outta the way.

I won't signal unless someone has to react to my lane switch. If no one has to even let off the gas, I'm not using a signal.

Why not? Is it waste of time?

Right lane is open for you to change lanes...someone wants to enter the road (from say a parking lot) in that same lane making a right turn going with the flow of traffic...since you don't signal, that driver may not realize you are going to change lanes and pull out in front you...an old person will do that in a heartbeat...that's just one example.

I worked in NYC for a while...I think the NYC cabbies are some of the most aggressive, best drivers I've ever seen...they all signal.

That is someone who has to react to my lane switch.

In that case I would probably let them in before I move over, unless I have an actual reason to move.

1. People who pull out in front of you then go 10 mph under the speed limit.

2. People who pull out in front of you and then immediately turn down the next street.

1. People who go slow in the left lane. There's a right lane for you.

2. People who smoke pot in traffic and don't share with the cars next to them. Selfish bastards.

For me it's the people to slow in the passing lane. Nothing more infuriating than the 60 year old listening to his Frank Sinatra CD cruising at 58 mph in the left lane.

Something I've also noticed over the last couple of years are the semi's that seem to be very aggressive on the freeway's. I'm seeing them jumping in and out of lanes to pass people and it freaks out other drivers who then, of course, hit their brakes pretty hard.

People who speed up to go around me, and then slow down in front of me. It's total nonsense!

Consider yourself fortunate...but the northern arc of 285 is probably the worst traffic aside from the connector (75/85/400) merge coming thru downtown.
