Thanks for the insight. I didn't watch the game and the boxscore did not tell the full story. Is this a realistic scenario for us, likely winning the same way? We already know Dan is going for it nearly every 4th down
Both teams might as well leave their punters at home. We may not see a punt all game.

Washington has a chance if they employ a "12 personnel" set often. This should improve the run game and give JD more time to throw. Ekeler becomes the primary back and another target in the pass game.
If they don't do this their chance to win go way down.

I think you need to activate Rodriguez and bench Robinson he looks done

Ways the Skins can win this game

The Lions self destructing which is something I don't see happening.

Outscoring the Lions. Like they did the Eagles the 2nd time around. Again, very unlikely. Unless a key Lion player(s) gets knocked out like Hurts did. I don't wanna see anyone get injured on any team n I don't really want them to win like that either.

The way the Bucs did it in week 2. This is the most feasible way imo. Bend but don't break defense giving up yards between the 20s, but hopefully tightening up in the red-zone. A couple turnovers wouldn't hurt and I can see Quinn and Campbell matching each other 4th down for 4th down.

I wonder if we have a fake punt play. Too bad they showed the WR pass with Brown to OZ in the Dallas game. That should've been money and would be a nice trick play to pull out the baag right now.
Bucs did something no other team did when they beat us, stopped St. Brown, Montgomery, and Laporta from YAC.

Lions are extremely comfortable throwing short of first on critical downs, and trusting their guys to pick up the difference. In the Bucs game every tackle was instant, Lions fell just short of first consistently. No other team since has stopped it the same way.

Long sustained drives that end in touchdowns?

Absolutely!! Everyone in the country knows Daniels is the offensive generator in both pass and run. The Commanders must generate something out of their run game that doesn't include Daniels. Employing the 12-personnel set (two tight ends) is their best chance to do that, considering what has happened to their run game this late into the 2024-2025 season.

SN: They did have the TOP advantage against the Bucs, so, I am convinced that the Lions will scheme against what the Commanders did to get that advantage, and throwing something different at them will do two things.

1. Force that safety up to stop it
2. Open an already 30th-ranked pass defense to more exploitation. (They won't do that with someone already spying JD)

I like that sty. My fear is we get down early and it becomes a track meet. The Lions offensive line and Gibbs is what scares me the most. I'm sure their plan is the same and to try and limit Jayden by keeping him on the sideline.

Anything short of 4th and 7, I expect Dan will go for it. We have to possess the ball.

The Lions are a big physical team and all of them can run, so, for this one, I'd prefer Jeremy McNichols over Chris Rodriguez eventhough CR is bigger (5-11 224 vs 5-9 214) McNichols has the speed that I'm looking for (CR = 4.52/40 vs JM = 4.49/40)

I believe both Terry and Dyami get opportunities down the field this week.

You make a great point about getting behind early! We'll know at the beginning of the game if that is their plan, if they win the coin flip and select to receive instead of defer. Besides the Commanders have become more a second half team of late and they can't afford to be that in this game. (The Bucs under Bowles/Coen are more conservative and the Lions under Campbell/Johnson far more aggressive)

Time to pay the piper for 91 & 99!!

All kidding aside, mobile QB's are the Lions kryptonite. Only benefit is Daniels is a rookie going into a hostile stadium. Could a problem though since you guys are playing with house money.

Washington already employs a lot of 12 personnel with Ertz and Bates on the field at the same time. I don't expect that will change. They may use BRob and Ekeler together at times.

I think how they end up spying Jayden will do a lot in how Washington will attack the D and of course will dictate their RPO offense.

Kliff likes to use misdirection,, I expect that to continue. I agree with kbso, TOP could be the key to the game.

Detroit's offense can be lethal, best defense is a good offense sucking up time on the clock.

The 12-personnel set: The Washington Commanders use this set about 14% of the time for their passing plays. The Washington Commanders also use the 12-personnel set on running plays roughly 29% of the time.
