Has a team ever lost two 100+ point players (not including retirement) from one season to the next?

Edit: Ryan Pike confirms (salary cap era) that this has never happened before.

Has that ever happened? Can’t think of a time it has.

Also this person didn’t watch the Penguins or they really hate the Flames:

my first inclination was not to blame BradT on this turn of events. The players wanted out ... neither want to play in Canada ... what can you do???

but then ... didnt he see this coming ???? He and the agents probably talked a lot over the past season. How does he let this happen? This is a Jimbo move to let this happen and get nothing in return ... and for BradT to sit out on the start of free agency and let possible replacements sign elsewhere? I guess Kadri is still available but oof !

He’s still got time to botch an offer sheet if he goes that route. So nowhere near rock bottom yet for this summer.

I by no means am trying to defend Treliving here (I think I posted that I wanted him gone a couple of years ago), but as far as Gaudreau is concerned, I'm not sure what he was supposed to do. I think they tried to get a new contract done 12 months ago but it didn't happen and you could argue that he should have tried to trade Johnny at that point. However, when you see the regular season that the Flames were having at the trade deadline, there's no way Treliving is trading #13. If you believe the reports, Treliving matched Johnny's offer and then the Gaudreau camp decided "Nah, we're going to free agency". Once #13 left, Matthew decided he didn't want to stay in Calgary either. At least there's a good chance that the Flames will get some nice pieces back for Matthew.

Club elected arbitration means no offer sheet can be presented.

Think of it this way....

You could be trying to dig yourself out of the Jim Benning era.....

Why would a first place team trade a rental lol could you imagine the fucking takes after that shit?

This is all about timing and to the best of our knowledge the Flames were still in (or thought they were based on his agent's negotiating) on Gaudreau to the last minute. OK fine.

The question is where has shit stood with Tkachuk? Was Tkachuk's decision based on whether Gaudreau stayed or not? In that case maybe Treliving should've been more up front with Gaudreau's agent and said "the future of the club is in the balance right now, if you don't make a decision by the draft we're moving on" and then start shopping Tkachuk. In that regard, Treliving should be blamed but we obviously don't know that.

Now they're limited to this list that's out there pretty much (assuming it's legit). That obviously hurts the Flames' bargaining position.

What a terrible offseason in Calgary. Hopefully they get a good return for him

Also please don’t try to bottom this team out. San Jose doesn’t need any more competition. We need teams in the Pacifoc to beat up on us. Thanks.

I meant something like offer sheeting somebody else a la ROR. There is still time for a mishap there.

You ready for the pillow fights against the Ducks this year? Makes you wish Corey Perry was back on them.
