These are both true statements.

Some fans are going to come back post-Melnyk. However, until the team shows real commitment to ... well anything, I don't expect packed buildings anytime soon.

That means getting a competent GM, hiring a respected Prez of Hockey Ops and working WITH partners on a new downtown build instead of shooting themselves in the foot. Just about any new owner will address these things in some way. The Melnyk girls just need to sell sooner rather than later.

There’s a good chance the Ottawa area’s pushing 2 million people within 20 years. If they can build this thing in the next five and the team is sold to someone who isn’t insane and can maintain a good team they can make a real go of it in that market.
