Also, that's the problem with putting guys like Kevin Lowe in the HHOF. Letang has much better numbers (50+ more goals and 150+ more points) and yet I wonder how many fans think Letang is a Hall of Famer. He's had a fine career including winning multiple Cups with the Pens, but I don't know if it's Hall of Fame worthy.
Since 2008, Letang is second in PPG among defencemen (behind Karlsson), 4th in total points among defencemen (and the only one in the top four of that category with a positive +/-), first in playoff goals among defencemen, 3 rings (1 he played no part of in the playoffs though), and twice made the NHL AST. Also played a lot of his career in front of LMAFO when he was doing his most LMAFO'ing.

Flip side, was never higher than third in Norris voting (although Norris voting is really dumb, I can't think of a season where he was lights out better than anyone else), never won a Conn Smythe nor was really up for it in either of the two Cup runs he participated in, defensive play has bordered between suspect and pretty bad (although Pittsburgh's generally not had much of a blue line to begin with, plus LMAFO), a lot of his offence can be explained by "get the puck to Sid or Geno" and he never played on an Olympic team (although B2B WJC golds aren't anything to sneeze at).

Unlike Lowe, he was probably Pittsburgh's best defenceman most of his career.

I think he probably gets in, especially if Pittsburgh go on one more run and he puts up numbers. Voters may look at the injuries and figure for him to still be that good despite all the knocks he deserves some leeway. May take a while though.
If someone told me Letang was a HOF'er I would laugh in their faces.

That is the thing if you look at just his numbers they seem legit but all you need to do is watch his game for one whole season and then you wonder why this guy been in the league that long playing top minutes every year.

That is spot on playing defense for the Penguins, he is like the hottest chick at a fat girls' only convention.

Another item of note he used to compensate his poor defense with his speed, not so much anymore.

Penguins might have gotten one of the luckiest goals of the season.

Bad pass by Letang. Dumoulin was there to clean it up. His shot gets deflected right to Guentzel and his attempt hits off the d-mans skate into the net.

At least the Canucks know how to beat the Penguins. Keep the Penguins on the PP.

It's a penball game.

Someone just needs to add bell and bumper sound effects to the footage.

Crosby has the most assists from the 2005-06 season (when he entered the league).

Sid - 847
Jumbo Joe - 845

That Letang to Crosby was a thing of beauty. Reminiscent of about 10 years ago.

It took a long time, but Lemieux is finally getting PAID from all the IOU's Howard Baldwin gave out.

Still have no clue how the Penguins are worth that much.

Sidney should be getting a kickback for that

Wow 3-0 already.

Maybe that is other team’s success. Get embarrassed by the Pens to motivate a winning streak?
