I remember the pre-Mario days when we could sit anywhere you wanted because they were happy just to have warm bodies in the stands. I remember going to games while visiting back from Italy during the dark days of Rico Fata et al.

I also remember not being able to get tickets when I was visiting during the Cup run years too.

Fuck all fair weather fans.
Sister used to take me during the preMario days. It was so dead you could talk to people across the arena and always moved closer since we bought the cheap seats.

As for the Rico Fata years by that time the Civic Arena was a dump sort of like the last years of Three Rivers. Crappy sports venue for a crappy team.

I get that and maybe I’m about to go grumpy old man here, but I don’t give a damn about the arena/complex. A real fan should only care about the game and his/her team…the good and the bad.

It’s the bad that makes the good that much sweeter.

The arenas of my youth were Memorial Stadium (Colts and Orioles), Cap Center and the Spectrum. Plus the Baltimore Civic Center and Hersheypark arena. Somehow each one was worse than the rest.

I remember being a kid and running around the upper deck concourse at Memorial in the couple years before the Colts left. They didn't even bother opening the concession stands up there.

I don’t disagree because it never stopped me from going but I clearly remember people hating going there because the whole experience was bad. Bad seats since they packed you in like sardines, bad concessions, bad team. Most people would rather spend their money elsewhere.

About the only good seats in the place were the upper terrace on both ends. Since those were built later they actually spaced them out more.

I've missed the first half of the game, but I just saw a great save by Marky on the sniper Drew O'Connor.

Well if you want to see the Flames win, quit watching. :D They have been the better team and even stopped a 5 on 3 PP.

Last little bit the Pens have really kicked it up a notch or two. Flames legs appear to be getting tired.

Hot take - The Pens aren't quite as lethal with Crosby, Malkin, and Letang out of the lineup.

Pens look like those first few lFlames games. A ton of shots with no results. Seriously after the leafs game they are coming back to reality, no scoring ability.

@dash Don’t worry the Flames are safe. Lafferty leads the Pens in shots.

And there it is the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Friedman and Lafferty on a two on one might be worse than Malkin and Letang.

Well, I think it's a completely different outcome without Markstrom between the pipes tonight. Penguins missing their entire PP1 unit, you have to think that would have made a dent on that 5-on-3 PP. Flames sneak out of Steel town with 2 points and a perfect road trip, crazy stuff.

Giordano was clearly the problem in Calgary.

I've seen a lot of that the last couple of days - I mean, look at the Kraken.

/Kylington was on waivers and didn't get nabbed, what a break for the Flames, he's been awesome this season.
