Did Dubas sign Jarry to that contract?
Yep that was a Dumbass thing. To his defense though, the goalie market was dog shit, and it was either bringing him back or hope for the best.
They did sign Nedeljkovic, but he was coming off those bad years and was signed to be a backup only. Also, Bloomqvist didn't even play a minor league game at that point either.

Yeah, it was abysmal timing for the Pens. The only good alternative was trading for a goalie, but even that market wasn't great.

If they wanted a decent shot at a starting-caliber goalie, it was Jarry or bust, and since Jarry was pretty good before he started getting hurt, there wasn't much chance to sign him to a much cheaper deal than the one he got. (Hopefully someday he recaptures that old form, but next offseason or the one after that, he might be a buyout candidate.)

Exactly his hands were tied and they really didn't have any trade capital to make a trade for a useful enough goalie.

My concern for the near-term is when Nedeljkovic comes back, Bloomqvist is getting sent down. Granted Bloomqvist going back to the AHL shouldn't hurt his development but worried if Murashov continues to play well playing time diminishes and will hurt both of their development.
