Back in time to enjoy the misery of yet another Penguins season. The Penguins will make the playoffs this year. Book it!
(Honestly, they would have done last year if they could have scored, like, three goals on the powerplay all year, so hopefully a new PP coach is all they needed.)

Seriously there is no excuse for them not to be in the playoffs. Hopefully this year if they are struggling near midseason that will be the end of Sullivan.
I still think Sullivan is a good coach, but the roster has changed as the core has aged, and his system might not maximize the talent they've got right now. Though I do think Dubas has made some effort to bring the team back in better line with Sullivan's system despite the cap restrictions, and bringing in a new powerplay coach whose system--at least in the preseason--appears to be a significant improvement over Rierden's should help address arguably the team's biggest and most destructive issue from last season. I don't think they're a Cup contender, but I do think they'll be much better this year than last and make the playoffs. And the longer-term assets Dubas has managed to get into the system might allow them to turn around into another cup contention window--though brief--before Sid and Geno and Tanger hang up the skates.Back in time to enjoy the misery of yet another Penguins season.

I agree 100%. Not much can be done until they are gone. Until that time probably will be a continued re-tool to fit Sullivan's style? My only concern will the other players become complacent?I still think Sullivan is a good coach, but the roster has changed as the core has aged, and his system might not maximize the talent they've got right now. Retooling in Sully's system might be their best bet, simply because that system seems to work for Sid and Geno even as they age. Maybe you could work in a new system that suits the supporting cast better, but does the team improve if that makes it harder for Sid and Geno to continue playing at the level they are?I agree 100%. Not that I put the blame solely on Sully's system, but Geno isn't performing well. Honestly, roster construction has been the top issue since the Hextall days, and even into now. And while firing Sullivan and trying out a new coach's system seems a tempting band-aid, in the modern NHL I don't think a roster which can't keep up for a Sullivan-like system can consistently compete anyway. I don't think changing the coach will actually get them anywhere positive, even if it does prove a necessary step.
