I think the majority of that blame can be placed squarely on the shoulders of Ron Hextall, in 2+ seasons as GM he did absolutely nothing to improve the goaltending situation or the bottom six which are the two main reasons Pittsburgh missed the playoffs the last two seasons. Just my opinion obviously


/it did not help that Kyle Dubas had his hands tied with some of Hextall’s contracts, which he was able to move for an even worse one.
