In reality, everything we hoped would be Edmonton’s downfall this year came to fruition.

Kane being Kane — you just can’t roster an asshat like him and expect championships.​

Relying on two players to carry you to the promised land without actually fixing your goaltending and defense absolutely led to the team breaking down when those two couldn’t generate in the Finals.​

​

Hiring an arrogant GM with a history of covering up a sex abuse scandal — just because he could get wins — and who refused to even look at the goaltending situation also played a big part in their defeat.​

​

Now we can hopefully count on them thinking they’re close and locking up all these players to massive contracts as they age out. I hope Connor holds out until next year before deciding on his future — just to make the fanbase sweat.

I’ll be over here refreshing the Draft Lottery Simulator for the next five years while we suck… but will still have fun anyway.
