At no point in its duration is that contract structured so that a buyout is an option. He will either become an LTIR case or some team will be paying it until 2023.

That's a very, very ugly deal if he can't get back toward the 20g/50p player he was until this year, even if he's only that for a year or two. Definitely possible (hey, Dustin Brown must've inspired a shit ton of NHL flame-outs this year) but disastrous for his team if he can't.
