I don't get it either. He's a generational player, just embrace that.

While I think Ottawa is a slightly deeper team than Edmonton I don't mind admitting that without Erik Karlsson they'd be well and truly fucked.

I think they (Oilers media and fans) are sick and tired of being told the obvious truth - They have been gifted the best player since Crosby and it's not due to any master plan or fantastic trades by Oilers GMs over the past decade. I think they are truly looking for validation and there's none forthcoming.

/That said, getting Cam Talbot was a big step in the right direction, although they had Devan Dubnyk and almost ruined him.

I'm still a Kris Russell fan (I know he has terrible fancy stats), but in my opinion, he's a 5th - 6th defenseman that can move up to the 2nd pairing if/when needed. That all said, the Flames have some young D prospects in the system that I want to see get an opportunity to crack the lineup even as soon as next season.
